To be annoyed at 111?

Had tonsilitis a few weeks ago, suspected peritonsillor abscess that burst

Was on penicillin with instruction to go straight back if got worse again.

Started sore throat last night, not terribly ill, this afternoon was sick and tinsiks visably swollen again. Starting to go white and the one that wax a subsisted abscess is looking gross! Pain in jaw starting again and intermittent pain in ear.

Rang 111 @ 5pm. Have mobile no and was told someone would ring within hour.

6.39pm rang back as pharmacy shuts at 7pm and so if they will give pencillen I could get prescription. They'd written my mobile no down wrong but had appareny tried to call 3 times - 1st time 5 minutes after i cslked them. But had my house no and didn't call it.

Decided to wait - 10 minutes ago had a 'courtesy' call to see if my condition had worsened. It's not and nice to call. But they said delay was due to it being busy tonight. AND they called my house phone!

I probably am being unreasonable but annoyed they wrote no down wrong and didn't try my house phone and gave me 2 different reasons for not calling.

Oh and have just called my house phone again!

Appointments all gone in both local ooh so gotta go to city one at 10.20pm. DS excited about a late night!

Would have braved the night but apparently by my symptoms I 'have to be seen'. Clearly not that badly!

Can't you just wait and see the GP tomorrow?

Hidden this can be very dangerous if not dealt with urgently, it's not like "regular" tonsilitis iyswim

youare YANBU - I've had this and it's horrific. I managed to catch mine just in time, any longer and I would have had to be hospitalised.

Fucking dr is running at least 40 mins late.

FFs all they had to do was write no down correctly or actually try house phone and this could have been prevented. They could have faxed script to my pharmacy and I could have seen gp tomorrow.

Not that simple I'm afraid. You need to be seen, not prescribed for over the phone.

How are you feeling op? Temp?

If the absess has already burst and hasn't responded to treatment it might be worth considering a&e before you get even worse? It's not going to get better during the night.

I know I have to be seen properly but at least if I'd had penicillin it could have waited until tomorrow!

Would stop these queues of people waiting for apts that are an hour late!

Even if they decide to drain it - it won't be tonight now and this is wrong hospital!!!

Yeah thanks - just got home. Tonsils are inflamed ,gland is up, ear inflamed and jaw jurts and hurts to open mouth.No white spots so just said fluids.

If abscess appears again during night go to a & e.

I'm glad it's ok ( for now!) but wish it had been sorted earlier.
