To think this may have been about gender...?

My dh has had ds, 22mo, for the afternoon in town. Walking back home with ds in the pushchair he said a woman slowed down in her car to tell him that ds face was in the full sun Hmm.

Dh is a bit annoyed and deflated about his whole afternoon now. He said he had ds forward facing and the hood was up (so his face is shaded when he sits back) but he was leaning forward out of the hood. It's about 24 degrees here but only got warm in the last couple of hours after a grey start.

AIBU to think this woman probably would not have slowed down/felt the need to say something if I - his mum - had been pushing him?

Oh, and ds has always hated the sun in his eyes, so certainly would have let dh know if it was bothering him!

YABU. There's nothing there to say she wouldn't have done the same for a woman.

Sirzy · 12/07/2013 16:25

You have no way of knowing. If she is a busy body she is a busy body and gender probably has nothing to do with it

Nah, reading AIBU has shown me that people feel the need to offer "helpful advice" to caregivers of every shape and make.

mynameisslimshady · 12/07/2013 16:26

Sounds like she was trying to be helpful, not sure why you think its related to gender.

If he was leaning forward and the hood was up, perhaps she just thought your DH couldn't see him and would like to know.

Judging by MN plenty of women feel free to tell other women where they are going wrong so I doubt it is gender!

mrsravelstein · 12/07/2013 17:19

no i've had that happen to me plenty of times and i'm female!

Trills · 12/07/2013 17:31

Female posters on MN are often saying that a stranger said something to them in public about their child.

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 12/07/2013 17:36

I think she sounds like a fussy sod. people need to chill out.

eurozammo · 12/07/2013 17:41

And the thing wrong with that is...?

She was just a busy body.

Tell DH this is what we all get surprisingly often. Now he knows what it's like. And tell him you think he's a fine daddy!
