To make DH collect new car?

We are collecting a new (to us) car tomorrow. It's 150 miles from us - purchasing it from my parents.

We were going to both go and collect it and each drive a vehicle home. Now I suddenly feel 'meh' about it, AIBU to let DH go by train and drive the car back?

No idea why I feel so fed up at the thought of going, just can't face the drive back Sad

DH is happy to catch the train but my parents are expecting me to go too...

Leave it until the weather cools down, 300 miles in this heat will be a nightmare.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 11/07/2013 21:33

I think you should go unless you're ill/massively pregnant. It won't be any more fun for DH, and it's your parents, after all. It's not really on to let either of them down at the last minute.

Problem is Fresh that the parents want the car gone by tomorrow Hmm 'cause they are worried something might happen to it whilst it's parked on their drive!!! Flippin' thing's insured, so not a big deal if anything did happen.

TheCat - I'm not physically ill, but am shattered and the thought of the journey is making me stressed.

My DH picked up a car 140 miles away a few weeks ago.

He went by train and drive it back.

No point me wasting my Saturday too

Beaver - I agree, it's difficult because it's my parents. My mum was a bit sniffy with me earlier when I phoned.

I can't believe that you can't be bothered to make a journey to see your parents and collect a car that I'd imagine you are paying far less than its worth....lovely daughter you are Hmm

Ihavetopushthepramalot · 11/07/2013 22:53

If he's happy to go then let him. I'm sure you can see your parents another time.

WilsonFrickett · 11/07/2013 22:55

Both go on the train. Take a wee picnic and some magazines and chill out a bit. Then share the driving back so you can both get a shot of the car.

apostropheuse · 11/07/2013 22:57

Do you not want a nice visit with your parents?

Bluestocking · 11/07/2013 23:04

I'm going to buck the trend and say YANBU. Why make three car journeys rather than one? But if your parents are disappointed, make a firm date to see them soon.

KiteSurfer · 11/07/2013 23:38

cricketballs - we've paid what the garage were offering if they part exchanged it. So no favours done.

Wilson we can't both go via train as we are 25 miles from the station & I'll have to give him a lift. Plus, it makes the journey a lot more expensive.
