To have never tried tampons?

I'm 25 and I've never tried tampons. I've used pads for the past 12 years. Am I the only one?

YANBU, your fanny, your choice

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 11/07/2013 20:12

What goes up your hooha is a matter for you and you alone. Lots of people prefer tampons, lots don't. There's no right or wrong.

WoTmania · 11/07/2013 20:13

nothing wrong with that, they're awful things in anycase (mooncups are much nicer Grin)

PoppyWearer · 11/07/2013 20:16

I think I was around your age many moons ago when I started using tampons. I use a mix now.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 11/07/2013 20:19

I doubt you're the only one. Have you ever tried tampons?

I don't like pads as I feel like I smell and I don't like the wet. But it's up to you what you're comfortable with.

Well thanks for this OP. Another life-enriching moment available only on Mumsnet.

I used them from quite young but did go swimming a lot so couldnt use pads. I prefer tampons tbh

mrsjay · 11/07/2013 20:24

I am a bit older than you when i was a teenager toxic shock syndrome was a big thing So i have never used them r tried them

newestbridearound · 11/07/2013 20:26

Nope, I'm also 25 and also have never used them. Never even attempted them as I just don't think they would be for me.

ilovepowerhoop · 11/07/2013 20:26

I'm nearly 40 and have used them from my early teens although hardly ever need them now as I have the mirena coil so rarely have a period

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 11/07/2013 20:29

26 and never have either, other than trying one during my first period when I was 12 and not feeling comfortable Blush

And if that's not TMI, I don't know what is!

McNewPants2013 · 11/07/2013 20:32

What's stopping you from trying them.

Solari · 11/07/2013 20:34

I always use pads myself (although am toying with the idea of a mooncup). Did try tampons when I was younger, but found them horribly painful to insert, uncomfortable to keep in, and agony to remove.

Tried every instructional leaflet and many different methods, just never worked out for me... so pads it is!

FeckOffCup · 11/07/2013 21:20

I tried them once as a teen, really hated the feeling of removing it and never tried them again.

CoolWaterRose · 11/07/2013 21:22

I only tried them when I took swimming lessons as an adult, otherwise would have kept on using pads! probably not uncommon.
