I've agreed to do an event at the end of the year. Its a huge physical challenge (not for charity. .) and it is at this current moment in time, far beyond my physical ability. It requires serious training.

I am working crazy hours, studying, trying to be a good parent, partner, plan a wedding and concentrate on loosing weight which right now, is frankly going shite..tbh all round im doing a pretty piss poor job, stretched far too thin.

I desperately want to complete this challenge, but following a couple of hindering injuries. .im beginning to think this is all just rediculous.

if I drop out, there will definitely be a 'told you so' feeling. It would have been such a great achievement on a personal level..but im realising that im getting nowhere while I try to do..everything.

wibu to admit defeat and hand my spot to someone who wants to do it and can put the time and effort in to actually compete...or should I follow through and stop being such a lame ass.

Do the challenge. The training will help with your weight loss and give you more energy as you get fitter.
I find the more I have to do, the more efficient I become with my time and the more productive I am.
You can do it.
Good luck.

I don't see the point in continuing if it's taking away time from your studies or your family, and stressing you out more than relieving stress.

When are you done with studying? Could you try again then? Or sign up for a challenge that's a little farther away so you have more time to train?

In other words, don't just give up, but try to transform the goal into something more realistic.

TheFuzz · 08/07/2013 13:19

You've got to put the training in, so get out there and do it !

sweetsummerlove · 08/07/2013 13:27

im studying for the next year yet.

I just physically cannot work out how to physically fit it all in. I've been so stressed recently, and decided to write a list of all my current commitments in an effort to scale them down.

This was the only thing I could single out as able to sacrifice. (I should point out I have other exercise related commitments)

I just need to eliminate some pressure from somewhere. .but I will feel annoyed with myself for not competing. Equally no point taking part in somthing I haven't trained for properly.

Uh, fook that for a game of soldiers. But I'm a quitter.

sweetsummerlove · 08/07/2013 13:33

^ lol scarlet. id feel like a quitter ..

but I swear to god I might have a breakdown if I force myself out for more off road running in this bloody heat. i don't know why I signed up. I detest running.

If it's not for charity then why are you doing it? You said it is for an event but what sort of event and why would it matter if you pulled out?

sweetsummerlove · 08/07/2013 13:43

No it's not charity based else id tell myself to get a grip. It's just a popular local event for runners. (think 9miles of mud and hills)

Oh fgs don't do it! Do it next year, or do something else, or just get on with the real challenges in your life.

It really, really doesn't matter. If its stressing you out to this extent, withdraw, and make another plan.

It has fuck all to do with anyone else.

Pennyacrossthehall · 08/07/2013 14:10

You can do it!

Seriously, just focus on doing it, not racing, competing, setting a particular time, winning etc.

If you scale it back to "can I make it to the end?" then it will become much more achievable. Next year you can try to win!

sweetsummerlove · 08/07/2013 14:46

hmm mixed answers coming back here lol
