to want Primark to do maternitywear

I want to start a smear campaign! Cheap and on trend maternity wear, think they would make a killing.

Nowhere on the highstreet carries a decent range of maternitywear and being pg I need to try clothes on and delivery/returns to websites is just a big old faff.

Get it in Primark!

YANBU but I think they'd already do, I haven't been in to check but someone told me the Belfast store has a maternity section...

Also, I'm not sure a smear campaign would be useful in this situation Grin

Have you tried New Look?

MortifiedAdams · 02/07/2013 19:52

Haha maybe I should have googled what 'smear' means in relation to a campaign. was too busy climbing on my soapbox.

I've definitely seen maternity jeans in there. Also, have you tried Matalan?

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 02/07/2013 19:54

They do maternity skinny jeans - haven't seen anything else though. They wear and fade quickly, but they're ever so comfy and have belt loops at the back so they don't fall down like all the other maternity jeans I've ever had. (Not that I'm bitter or anything.)

WilsonFrickett · 02/07/2013 20:06

H and M do great maternity wear. Also Topshop has a small range but fashionable. Dotty Ps have good basics. But I think H and M are what youre looking for.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 02/07/2013 20:19

AND a plus size range. Could cost slightly more but it'd also fly out the store

Blanketsandpillows · 02/07/2013 20:27

They only do maternity jeans so far. I agree-bring on more! I have found a few bits of great clothes in H&M (despite having to scrawl through) but think there is still a gap in the market. YANBU!

HorryIsUpduffed · 02/07/2013 20:27

Maternity clothes are expensive because the cheap shops don't do them. H&M aren't bad but their range is very limited.

I think maternity wear is complicated though - especially bottoms which need panels or adjustable whatevers. They don't come cheap.

Primark do do a lot of long tops all year round so cheapskates like me can buy a size or three up for a significant proportion of pregnancy.

PinkParsnips · 02/07/2013 20:28

I was told primark did maternity but the Leeds store only have skinny jeans too - so disappointed!!
Another vote here for h&m, everywhere else seems to have gone to online sales only.

Szeli · 02/07/2013 20:35

I didn't buy anything 'maternity' and I ended up crazy huge. All the stuff I tried on did not suit a pregnant figure - god knows who designed it. I went with the maxi dresses and bodycon dresses options and felt much better. Maternity clothes seemed to split me in two (especially primark jeans that gave me two bumps and new look tops which were cropped :/)

Eilidhbelle · 02/07/2013 20:38

Petite maternity is what's needed! I've bought most of my stuff from H and M but I would KILL for something different, sick of wearing jeans!

soontobeburns · 02/07/2013 20:50

Im with skinny plus size is needed too. I hate only shopping in asda, new look and h&m (can't afford evans)

Wickedgirl · 02/07/2013 21:09

New look do a good range online.

Primary only sell maternity jeans (that are very soft and comfy) but their t shirts, vest tops, pyjamas and maxi dresses are also very comfy and suitable for pregnancy use.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 02/07/2013 21:11

Agree that it would be a best seller. Cheap, cheerful and bin-able I n 9 months. Fat fashion at its most useful.

memphis83 · 02/07/2013 21:11

Peacocks did great jeans and plain tshirts and vests but I know a lot have closed down now so may not be a local one to you.

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 02/07/2013 21:12

Fast not fat!

Fakebook · 02/07/2013 21:20

I bought some over the bump maternity skinny jeans from there and they are really good quality and comfortable. I think only some cities have a whole maternity section. We don't. I think our store gets sent bits and bobs of maternity stuff. You have to keep an eye out.

youarewinning · 02/07/2013 21:22

I had this same conversation yesterday with someone. Maternity wear shouldn't be specialised and exspensive.

agendabender · 02/07/2013 21:28

While you ladies are riled up about it, can anyone tell me where I can buy maternity jeans that are ACTUALLY petite, rather than for giants? I'm 5 foot, but this is proving impossible!

CrispyFB · 02/07/2013 21:30

A few years ago Asda (the bigger ones, especially the non-food ones) had a range of basics at a reasonable price.

TomDaleysTrunks · 02/07/2013 21:33

Mamas and papas and new look so petite jeans!

pleiadianpony · 02/07/2013 21:37

Mamas and Papas have 50% off. Stuff is also well made. I have managed to get away with buying a only handful of things. Jeans were even cheaper than Matalan maternity jeans!

It also makes me feel better knowing that my clothes haven't been made by underpaid workers in factories which might collapse on their heads at any minute..hopefully anyway.

Have found a couple of things in charity shops too.

Eilidhbelle · 02/07/2013 21:40

Funmum do petite jeans, they're amazing. I got work trousers and white linen trousers too, and they deliver really quickly.

claremp7 · 02/07/2013 21:45

I found peacocks maternity range brilliant! Also matalan did some lovely tops and dress for parties (Christmas time). My parents bought me some maternity from asda but they don't have any in my local one. I never got maternity clothes from h and m but have some great breast feeding tops.

raisah · 02/07/2013 21:47

Next do maternity clothes & so does M&S, they r in the nedium prize range.
