I really want to ask someone out and I'm getting myself worked up. Someone tell me it will be ok.

It's the first time since me and my ex split.

We met through a dating site and she contacted me first so she's probably interested right?

We've had messages going back and forth for a few days and she sounds lovely. I really want to meet up with her and need someone to tell me to woman the fuck up and ask her. Oh god what if she says no?!?

Do it! She contacted you first and it's a dating site...you've exchanged messages so seems very natural next step. Good luck! and report back Grin

TWinklyLittleStar · 29/06/2013 13:57

Woman up! :)

Seriously though, what's the absolute worst thing that can happen? She says no, you're briefly embarrassed, you forget about it in a day. Compared with best case scenario - says yes, you go out and have a great time - it's well worth taking a chance.

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 14:00

I'm literally biting my nails ( I never do that!) ffs
My hearts racing!

How do I even causally say it?

"fancy meeting for a coffee/drink soon?"

lurkedtoolong · 29/06/2013 14:01

Go for it. People don't message back and forth on dating sites unless they are at open to meeting up. Definitely ask her. You're going to get a nice date out of it.

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 14:04

Ohmygodohmygodohmugod!!!!!!!!

Right, phew. Ok I'm going to do it. Eeeeek!

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 14:07

Oh fuck! I've done it!

Now I've got to wait on tenter hooks!

What if she says yes?!? What will I wear? Where should we go?
We are about 50 miles apart in two neighbouring big cities? Maybe there is somewhere we can meet in the middle or should I do the travelling because I asked?

Oh fuck!

While you drive yourself mad until she replies, I will tell you a joke to take your mind off it, your title reminded me of it.

A man is at home on a dark blustery night. It's late and he's getting ready for bed.
Suddenly there's a knock at the door, he opens it and there is a man, drenched.
'I'm so sorry to disturb you, but I need someone to give me push, just to get me going. I've been up and down the street and knocked on a few doors and no-one is answering. I saw your light on so I thought I'd try here. If you'd come and give me a push you'd be doing me a huge favour.'
So the first man sighs and says sure, let me go and get my shoes on.
He follows the other man into the street and says, 'alright mate, where are you?' To which the man replies 'I'm over here on this swing'.

Boom tish!
Thenkyewvairmush.

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 14:45

Oh dear! Grin

Still no response according to the site she went off line just before I sent it!

She has probably gone to work and left me to sweat Smile

Now what?

Should I offer to travel to her or propose we meet in the middle?
Coffee? Dinner? Drinks?

OwlinaTree · 29/06/2013 15:35

Suggest a mid way meet up during the day, lunch in a pub or the like. Tell someone in RL where you are going. Get them to call you after 30 mins to tell you something bad happened so you can leave if you want to. When you get back from the date, don't forget to tell the someone in RL you are home and safe

Have a fab time, but be safe.

perplexedpirate · 29/06/2013 16:23

Whoop! I'd do lunch somewhere cool.
You could impress her by telling her my joke. Wink

OwlinaTree · 29/06/2013 16:30

I love the joke!!

HerrenaHarridan · 29/06/2013 19:56

Will memorise joke its bound to impress Grin

Late lunch Saturday, still to decide where?!?

Thanks btw Smile

If you are in a city a pleasant walk from lunch to bar would be nice too.

I want a date now!
