Yes yes I know it's rubbish really, but every now and then I couldn't resist... And now they've ruined it! Confused any tips which supermarket brand comes closest to the original taste?

It is horrid isn't it? I've given up and gone back to cornflakes.

Poppyhat · 27/06/2013 21:59

I remember when they changed it the first time,it went from being little puffy flakes,a bit like half a Rice Krispie to the flat flakes they are now. No advice as to what is the closest cereal I'm afraid.
But I know how you feel:)

It's horrible, isn't it? !

I've changed to Fruit and Fibre, which is nothing like it :-(

poocatcherchampion · 27/06/2013 22:12

what's happened? we had some recently for the first time in ages and it tasted way to sugary for me. is that it or is it something else?

Sallyingforth · 27/06/2013 22:16

The original and best breakfast cereal is porridge.

DramaAlpaca · 27/06/2013 22:16

Someone on another thread a while ago said the Aldi Benefit cereal is very similar, so I gave it a try.

It looks similar to Special K but is much less sweet. I quite like it actually.

TheCraicDealer · 27/06/2013 22:19

It was quite moreish before, it was just a bit salty or something so it was like having pretzels with milk. Now it's shit. I don't care what they're trying to reduce in their new recipe, I won't be buying it again.

Now someone suggest a good faux-Special K! Tesco's is ok, but still not as nice.

maillotjaune · 27/06/2013 22:23

I thought I must have bought a duff box. The oats and honey ones are horrid - like crispy cardboard instead of the lovely, slightly puffy ones before. They even look cardboard.

I am back to porridge - also fits the lively summery weather we're havingSmile

Yes, Aldi's Benefit is much better than Special K. It has the puffy bits, is less soggy and tastes better, also it's only £1.49!!!!

Sainsburys version is pretty good. Think its called Healthy Choice or something like it, green top on the packet. Thanks for the warning that they've changed the branded stuff!

poocatcherchampion · 27/06/2013 22:43

yes we normally have Aldi one now and it is way yummier than real special k!
