I booked a room for my mum and dad and me at a Travelodge...a family room, and now DP wants to come, so i've booked a double. Its a saver room, so can't be amended, but i'm afraid that when the four of us check in, they won't let us stay because we booked a family room for 3 adults, and a double for 2 and there will only be 4 of us...help!

I don't understand - so there are 4 of you in rooms meant for 5 or 6? Why would they care?

starlingsintheslipstream · 21/06/2013 18:50

Oh, don't worry, they won't care. It's not like you are all trying to squeeze in one room! If they query it, just say the fifth person is ill and couldn't come.

RobotElephant · 21/06/2013 18:50

With Travelodge you book the rooms, rather than how many people, so I don't think they'll care

When I booked a family room with them I didn't know if DS would be staying with us or not, they said it didn't matter either way.

LIZS · 21/06/2013 18:50

It's fine . All it means is that they will have made up the sofa in one room .

dontblameme · 21/06/2013 18:51

They won't give two hoots. Travelodges are ace :)

feetlkeblocksofice · 21/06/2013 18:51

They won't care as they are paid by the room not per person.

mrsyattering · 21/06/2013 18:51

just check in a usual and sleep in double with dp? that's what I'd doWink

HotCrossPun · 21/06/2013 18:57

You are worried that there is too few people staying in the family room?

littleducks · 21/06/2013 19:03

It will be fine. I think they prefer it of you tell them at check in for evacuation in care of a fire purposes but I have never really understood that as surely you could be out somewhere else even if checked in.

Think about it, you could be fully intending to travel as a party of five and then on the day one person get a vomiting bug and s drop out.

Have a nice trip!

candycrushhater · 21/06/2013 19:05

The last time I stayed at a Travelodge, the check-in desk was just a computer terminal/ATM type thing - there was no actual reception desk or staff. It'll be fine Smile

SweetBabyJebus · 21/06/2013 19:07

They're getting paid for 2 rooms. They soooooooooooo don't care how you arrange yourselves in said rooms!

PicaK · 21/06/2013 19:10

Ditto whateveryone else says. The price is the same whether u have 2 or 4 people in therr. They just put out more sheets etc.

They only allow 1 pillow per person so u may welcome the extra bedding. And there's no shower gel. But they are clean and i like them.

aldiwhore · 21/06/2013 19:10

You can have up to the limit. You can be a single person and book a family room.

Don't worry. x

I've heard of people doing AIBU threads about trying to smuggle random kids and babies into rooms for 4, never someone worrying about under-occupying a room! :)

They won't even bat an eyelid.

OccasionalTherapy · 21/06/2013 19:24

Love that you're worried that they will disapprove of the fact you've overpaid...maybe you could rope in someone to stay in extra bed (obviously family member advised, not advertising on eBay for third to stay night with your parents...think they might want extra 'benefits')

This reminds me of the time when I was learning to drive and thought the sign saying "No return within 1 hour" meant I wasn't allowed to go back to the car until the hour was up.

MrsLouisTheroux · 21/06/2013 20:04

I've done this a few times at Premier inn ( booked family rooms for me, dh and dc) only for dh and one dc to stay at home. On check in, they will either swop your Mum and Dad to a double/ twin or leave everyone where they are. It's nothing to worry about.
