to wish they would put shampoo in sensible shaped bottles

instead of those poncey shaped things that fall over at the slightest touch.
I like Head and Shoulders but they use a bottle that narrows at the bottom and keeps falling off the shelf in the shower. Usually it's just a nuisance but yesterday a new full bottle fell on my toe. Now it's very painful - might even be broken.

YANBU I can't IMAGINE the scenes in the product design offices

"Do you have the latest bottle design Tom?"

"Yes...here it is...it's one inch wide at the bottom and 12 at the top...it's REALLY wobbly"

"Ah...yes....great design! That'll piss our customers off!"

Sneepy · 18/06/2013 18:27

Surely if the top is wider than the bottom you are meant to store it upside down?

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2013 19:24

I know which one you mean Sally DS has some. Sad i don't like shower gel bottles that slice your fingers open, and some need to be opened with your teeth. Confused

I once had a job interview for management trainee scheme for a very big well known cosmetics company which sells shampoo in bottles exactly like that. In my interview I was asked to comment on said shampoo and I made this exact observation. Stupid bottle shape. They offered me the job. I declined as I realised I couldn't imagine anything more boring than discussing shampoo marketing.

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 18/06/2013 20:32

OoH YaSOnbu about those Head and Shoulders bottles. They are ridiculous. Dd uses it and the bottles keep falling all over the place. Sorry about your poor toeSad Ouch!

I also get in the most awful fight with the top of Imperial Leather bubble bath. I can only assume it was specifically designed to be impossible to open or close without a lump hammer.

Thurlow · 18/06/2013 20:34

I hate the Treseme bottles. They're so bloody massive. You can't keep them on the metal shelf things because they're too heavy. I swear they could break a toe.

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 18/06/2013 20:37

When you think about it no bathroom bottle should ever be designed in any way that isn't stable, easy to hold and can be opened or shut one handed.

Also...while we're at it, why do shampoo and conditioner bottles always look so blimmin similar if you buy the same brand of both. The times I've mixed them up and sloshed on the wrong thing...Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2013 20:39

Why do you not get as much conditioner as shampoo? Confused

Yonihadtoask · 18/06/2013 20:40

ooh YANBU OP.
I bought a Vosene shampoo in the teardrop shaped bottle. I drop it every bleedin' time. Grrr..

Also Body Shop men's face wash - take s slice out of my thumb each time I pop the cap. (am not a man, it was a gift for DH, but he uses shower gel... )

YY Yoni sliced thumb. Angry

pigsDOfly · 18/06/2013 20:43

Ooh yes. Standing in the shower, soaking wet hands fighting with the shower gel lid that will not open. Who the hell designs these things and why are they not tested for exactly the circumstances in which they will be used.

ChewingOnLifesGristle · 18/06/2013 20:43

Excellent thinking there Miaow! I like thatSmile.

Sparklingbrook · 18/06/2013 20:45

Oooh look at these beauties.

MissStrawberry · 18/06/2013 20:48

Also, lids that are impossible to open and with teeny tiny holes.

I find that shampoo and conditioner bottles are the opposite way around. One stands the right way, the other one upside down.

Thesunalwayshinesontv · 18/06/2013 20:56

YANBU - and even worse for me as I am blind as a bat and can't wear my contacts in the shower (soft disposables). So constantly getting shampoo and conditioner mixed up, constantly misjudging the edge of the shelf and dropping bottles, constantly swearing when I drop a lid on the shower floor and can't see it...grrrrr.

Pontouf · 18/06/2013 21:02

YANBU! I also struggle with the Tresseme bottles Thurlow because I have really small hands and if the bottle is at all wet (which obviously it is in the shower) then I can't hold it in one hand! Ridiculous. And yes, my brother's ex girlfriend once broke two of her toes dropping a full bottle in the shower. Angry

Tortington · 18/06/2013 21:04

they should be made to go in a shower, get wet
and
slippery and then with long fingernails, try and open the fuckers whilst not snapping said nails.
