to think upside down plug sockets are a good idea?

Just watching Rhod Gilbert on the C4 Comedy Gala moaning that his electrician placed 2 sockets the wrong way up......much hilarity ensued!

But the more I think of it, the more sense it makes in some places. My PC/laptops combo (my desk looks likes NASA!) would be much easier if the sockets were upside down. Lamps would be easier if the plugs sockets were upside down.

Or failing that, have the flex coming out of the top of the plug!

yep, I had thought of that before and agree.
my phone charger is going down then up, so not only it is too short that way to reach my phone from bed when charged (lazy cow here) I think it puts strain on the wires inside.

also it would be good of plug sockets were deeper (sunken?), I hate the stupid gaps between furniture and wall, coz the plugs are in the way!
