I am BU neighbour I think

This week we've had to complain to the neighbours (same ones numerous times).

Last week their visitor parked over our drive, blocking us in. We asked them to move it. They did. They parked on the pavement, as in behind neighbour's car, over the pavement with rear wheels on the road. Any pedestrians had to walk into the road or cross over. It stayed like that all night. However, we didn't complain again.

Then on Thursday night DH asked them if they could stop using some power hose thing right outside DS2's window at 9.30pm (personally I think DH was BU this time). I wasn't in. But I don't know how loud it was.

Today I went around to ask what they were burning as the whole place was full of smoke (I had washing out). Apparently they were burning wood. WTAF? At 2pm on a sunny day. The smoke was so thick I couldn't stay outside and there was all this ash or something floating over. I don't think I was BU. Or was I? They put on a barbeque instead.

It just annoys me that they don't consider any of their neighbours, think they can do what they like, when they like.

Or maybe I am BU to expect them to?

You don't sound U. The power tool thing would have drove me batty!

I hate people having bonfires as soon as the weather's nice. Absolute genius move, making the air thick with ash and acrid smoke, it's not like anyone wants to sit outside or have their washing out drying is it? Hmm YANBU, those things would make me complain too.

move, don't get into a debacle with them as you will have to declare it if asked when selling, they sound vile.

Sorry but I think YABU.

I bet there are a few things you do that piss them off.

You should try living next door to my neighbour (well, next door but one). We've lived here 13 years. Every summer, without fail, he decides to replace the front garden fence. First thing he does is gets together bits of fence from skips and cobbles together what he thinks looks great. Then he BURNS the old one, in his back garden. FWIW he lives in the top maisonette and the people downstairs (whoever they may be at the time) just have to live with his nonsense - 'first in, last out' can be heard being yelled out of his window.

One year he decided to 'build' a pond in the back garden, with (then) downstairs tennant (equally offensive pillock). This consisted of them digging a massive hole in the middle of the lawn. They were going to 'fill' it with a hose, because that's all it takes to build a pond apparently. Best part is they then had a huge fallout and one of them filled the hole back in during the night! To this day, no one on my street knows who did it...

I do wonder if there are things we do that piss them off. We don't have loud music, we don't light fires/barbeques, we park on our own drive.

We do mow the lawn (not often enough), but then all the neighbours do. There's quite a bit of noise in our house, kids doing stuff, but we're not attached to their house. I don't think they can hear because I can only just hear the neighbour's drum kit. You can't hear our noise outside.

They rent, and their landlord did ask us if they were generally OK because we once had to call him when they dumped builders rubbish in our drive. Landlord is OK.

It is illegal to burn rubbish in the garden, phone the Fire Service, they will come and put it out!
I wish I lived in the country with no neighbours at all. I admit I am
unsociable, I dislike other peoples music, football noise, barbecues,
inconsiderate lawn mowing ( ie to early) Dogs barking drives me mad.
But, I do like to hear children playing and laughing.

Jins · 08/06/2013 18:23

It's not illegal to burn rubbish.

If its causing a nuisance then you need to contact environmental health. Don't waste the fire brigades time

Heartbroken Sorry but that is hilarious! They dug a hole and were planning to fill it with a hose to make a pond! Would have loved to have seen them try that! And then one of them filled it in in the middle of the night! And no-one knows who!?!

Brilliant!
