To wonder what animal is like a goat

DS (8) went to a wildlife park today on a school trip. He was telling me about it and said

'Mummy we also stroked a goat'

He was quiet for a bit, then added

'at least I think it was a goat'

So, if it wasn't a goat, what could it have been?

Alpaca?

Perseis · 07/06/2013 21:16

Wild sheep? Some kind of small deer?

How 'wild' a wildlife park are we talking here?

It was Yorkshire Wildlife Park at Doncaster. Just looked on the website and it menitons tigers, lions, meerkats, giraffes and some baboons. Doesn't mention goats. He seems to have got all his limbs so don't think it could be lions! Grin

This map mentions a goat and sheep contact area

What you had there was one of those goat mimics. An animal who has evolved to look like a goat so other animals will think "Ooh look, a goat!" and be less likely to eat it because they're scared of it's goat defence systems.

TiggyD - I'm quite impressed with DS with his ability to see through these goat mimics cunning disguise.
