.... And replacing it with a fully enclosed suite, just because I suspect there are spiders living under it?

YANBU. Favourite piece of advice I've ever read on here was about hoovering up a spider and then putting the hoover in the bin Grin. So swapping a batn seems perfectly proportionate.

RachmanenoughR · 06/06/2013 22:14

YABU!

BelleEtLaBaby · 06/06/2013 22:17

I'm in the bath right now and I can't relax as I keep thinking a spider might crawl over the top :(

I've done the Hoover thing- I hoovered up a monster in a blind panic in my 20's then threw the whole thing down the driveway. In dec. My housemates were furious :)

Oh yes, do it.

We were stuck with a Victorian cast iron roll top monstrosity thing when we moved here. It was vile. Uncomfortable and impractical - where the hell do you put the shampoo and soap, for a start?

Replaced it (finally!) with a normal bath, and I have never been so happy. Spiders played a parti n the decision to change it, but the thing was so awful I would have done it anyway. My bath is now beautifully boxed in and I am safe and comfortable.

Do it.

FunnysInLaJardin · 06/06/2013 22:43

YANBU. We once sold a Mini Cooper S because it was infested with massive spiders. Every fucking time I drove it one would appear. And there's not much room in a mini. Once I had to abandon it and get DH to come and drive it home due to a HUGE fucker in the footwell!

StuntGirl · 06/06/2013 23:42

I've always wanted a roll top bath.

I don't anymore :(

KatoPotato · 06/06/2013 23:44

I once hoovered up a spider then sealed off the hose with a pair of knickers and a bobble then shut it in the kitchen!

McNewPants2013 · 06/06/2013 23:45

they are only spiders.

TheCraicDealer · 06/06/2013 23:50

I thought that too, McNew, then remembered I'm scared of pigeons. I couldn't relax knowing a pigeon was under my bath or in my car's footwell [shudder] Most embarrassing moment at work so far was when I was in a burnt out building with my boss and some birds started flapping about in the small, dark enclosed bar area. I literally shrieked and hid behind my boss, who had to chase them off through a tiny window.

olidusUrsus · 07/06/2013 01:58

Me too Stunt Sad

youmeatsix · 07/06/2013 09:43

YABU, just move house. when they take out the bath, his whole family could be living under thereShock

BaronessBomburst · 07/06/2013 09:49

Get a cat. It'll eat them for you.

Jux · 07/06/2013 16:00

Mainly, they do, Baroness. But then there's the occasional time when a spider is too big for one good gulp and the cat decides it would be much more fun to show you how clever it has been by trying to give you a whole, still living monster......

.... Extremities drooping out of the edges of the cat's mouth......

.... And the more you run away, the more the cat chases you ......

.... With the massive monster legs waving at you from your beloved pet's mouth .......

.... until finally, you crack and the cat has to be hoovered up too ......

Wink

YABVU, roll top baths are fabulous-I so want one!! This is from someone who is terrified of spiders btw...

melika · 07/06/2013 16:50

Laughing so much. My nightmare is driving and a big spider appears!

Creasing at jux!!!!

BadgersRetreat · 07/06/2013 16:57

we had an old MG and one day there was this odd silky ball thing hanging from the choke lever, so DH pulled it off and dropped it on the drive and a zillion baby spiders ran out Envy

Imagine if they had been left and all been BORN in the car Shock

i don't want a roll top bath anymore either

ProfYaffle · 07/06/2013 16:59

"Spiders played a part in the decision to change it" did you let them view the catalogue? Grin

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 07/06/2013 17:05

DD is scared of wasps. She hoovered one up, carried on cleaning her room and an hour later emptied the hoover in the bin only for the wasp to come flying out straight at her!

Now she just leaves the room begging me to sort it out :)

melika · 07/06/2013 17:06

omg Badger that is horrendous. I would run a mile away from that car, would not feel safe in it at all!!

BelleEtLaBaby · 07/06/2013 17:09

I was enchanted by the bath when we moved in. It all seemed so... Galaxy moment...

Then I got in it for the first time and a spindly old spider ran across the floor and under it. The previous owners have done an awful job of all the DIY, so the panelling in the bathroom stops just below the edge of the bath (I think they panelled without moving the bath - they've painted around furniture too but that's another story). Now I think all the spiders must be living under it and I can't relax properly in it

I broached replacing it with dh this morning. He laughed or a long time and blessed me. Angry

Grin we sold it quite soon after melika

melika · 07/06/2013 17:19

~Before anyone says, I know I am being ridiculous!

RevoltingPeasant · 07/06/2013 18:08

Jux Grin My mum's golden retriever did that. She is bigger than the hoover. Logistical ishoos resulted.
