To think this amazon review is shocking?

I was really shocked to see this review on Amazon - it's a review of what seems like a lovely book to help children deal with bullies and bullying. This review is both offensive (who calls a child a 'pansy'??) but also I found it deeply bullying in its tone and language. I've reported it to Amazon so hopefully they will use their wisdom and remove it.

It's been deleted. Thankfully the other comments appear to be heavily against that attitude! This is one of the reasons why some children struggle to talk to their parents or to a teacher....because so much of society sees them as being weak still.

juneybean · 01/06/2013 17:48

Probably not considering they've deleted replies to the review Confused

bailo · 01/06/2013 17:50

Troll in "posts offensive content on internet" shocker.

thegreylady · 01/06/2013 18:03

No it hasn't been deleted. I just read it! It is two of the replies that have been removed. That shockingly bullying piece is still there-just scroll up.

ifitsnotanarse · 01/06/2013 18:05

The review has not been removed.

SisterBliss · 01/06/2013 18:16

Yes, it's definitely still there. For some reason, the link I have sends you to the bottom of the page, but scroll up to the top to find it.

I think the original reviewer fancies themselves as a bit of a joker judging by the other reviews they've written on Amazon.

Are they being serious? I think they specialise in spoof posts. They just aren't funny, which is a major failing.

lljkk · 01/06/2013 18:44

I don't think it's that bad (and yes bullying has been a big part of my life, before you assume otherwise). It's just an ignorant perspective on bullying. I've seen much harsher comments on Amazon.

RubyrooUK · 01/06/2013 19:05

I don't think the reviewer has a "pansy" nephew to be honest. If you look at the rest of their reviews, they are quite liberal with reality and aiming for humour.

On some Ugg boots: "What I did not realise is how much of a turn-on Camel's feet can be. I now insist that [my girlfriend] wears them all the time, even in the bath. I also got a suede beige cushion that works perfectly as a hump and sets the Uggs off a treat! My Camel obsession has now spread to Llamas and all kinds of spitting, four-legged creatures."

On a Rabbit vibrator: "This book unfortunately has nothing to do with Rabbits. Hardly Watership down. Disappointed and confused. Also allergic to rubber. I would recommend Peter Rabbit in Paperback version, especially for younger kids. My 4 year old will never be the same again after Ive finished reading him this one."

I think they are just trying to wind people up a little bit with a spoof post.

I thought it was quite funny. Ironic and spoof, not supposed to be taken literally. It's ok to be offended by it, comedy tends to split audiences.

WafflyVersatile · 01/06/2013 19:59

It's fairly apparently he's not being serious. I've read funnier though.

ElectricSheep · 01/06/2013 20:04

Yep don't think it's serious - the big house, big car and smoking wife are the some of the clues Grin

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 01/06/2013 20:12

I would like to add my own review on him.

0* rating - 'what a cock'

SisterBliss · 01/06/2013 20:27

I hadn't read his other reviews so didn't spot that it could be a spoof. I'm not entirely humourless and I find some spoof reviews quite funny if they're well written but I don't think joking about bullying is remotely funny.

err i think he is being funny. If you click on his name it takes you to all his reviews. I did find the one about the horse a tad funny actually.

DrHolmes · 01/06/2013 23:00

I'm sorry but this guy is quite funny... With regards to The only way is Essex series 1-6 dvd boxset his first line was "You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter."

pigletmania · 01/06/2013 23:11

The guys an Idiot! He's just shit stirring to get eoples hackles up

MulberryJane · 01/06/2013 23:20

I was horrified when I read that! Then I read the rest of his reviews and I can't stop laughing, this guy is hysterical! I think he's gone a step too far by commenting on that book, the people reading that review will obviously be people who are desperate for some guidance and, although he's being ironic, there's a time and a place: that wasn't it.

I love the review for the 'guide to the rabbit', especially the reference to Watership Down!

WafflyVersatile · 01/06/2013 23:41

the glitter phrase was not coined by him! Don't be that impressed.

Cosydressinggown · 01/06/2013 23:48

Wow, he really has nothing better to do with his time?

Grin
WafflyVersatile · 02/06/2013 00:09

Oh, look, you saved me the bother of saying that! Grin

zippey · 02/06/2013 14:27

You might not find jokes about bullying funny but you set a dangerous precedent when you start banning and setting boundaries when it comes to comedies and satire, be they about bullying, the pictures of Mohamed, Life Of Brian, brass eye spoof documentaries or offensive jokes by the likes of Jimmy Carr.

diddl · 02/06/2013 15:06

I laughed at the clothes hangers one!
