We bought one of those collapsible tents for the beach today for DD.

DP wanted to put it up in the garden when we got back. And now he can't get it back down! He's been out there for over half an hour trying to fold this 'easy to pop-up, easy to pop-down' tent back into its bag.

I've been out to tell him where hes going wrong offer my help but he's adamant he wants to do it on his own.

AIBU to be nearly wetting myself watching him from the kitchen window? I can't contain myself when it pops up right in his face!! Even my neighbour has been out to see if he wants a hand!

You are not being unreasonable! Grin

YANBU

Leave him to it. But it might be a nice gesture to bring out some tea and toast to him tomorrow morning though. Wink

Video evidence is needed! Grin

I bought one a few years ago as it was reduced, it came in a tiny bag which fitted nicely under the pushchair.

I took it out of the bag and found a mesh bag in there too, I was intrigued.

Turns out the bloody thing doesn't go back into its tiny bag, but this enormous mesh one. I was very cross and swore quite a lot.

It has had 3 summers worth of use and is hoping for a fourth, but is quite large to carry around.

Thanks TESCO

Get filming it for 'You've Been Framed', might as well make a few quid out of it too Grin

Startail · 27/05/2013 17:36

They are not easy. There is a real knack to them. The DD's playhouse defeated me everytime.

I'd watch and giggle.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 27/05/2013 17:36

YANBU! I'd be videoing him if it were me.
My DH gets in such a pickle putting duvet covers on..I find it hilarious Grin

KittensoftPuppydog · 27/05/2013 17:39

We've got one and nearly had to bring it back from the beach still 'popped up'.
We had quite a big audience watching too. Seemed to make people's day.

Iggi101 · 27/05/2013 17:41

Look up the model on youtube - someone will probably have posted a how-to video. Then you can stroll into the garden and casually show him how it's done!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/05/2013 17:44

I love watching other people try to fold away these thingsGrin

After many hours of YouTube watching, I've got it down to a fine art! We have 2 mini pop up tents and a massive 4 man one which we can fold away first time now.....

Just as well because we always seem to gain an audience when trying to fold the big tent.

It's all in the wrist actionWink

PoppyWearer · 27/05/2013 17:46

Is your DD a toddler? Can you send her to "help"? just for the extra comedy value

I did this to DH when he was putting up our tent this weekend...the poor love got a bit flustered. Grin

youmeatsix · 27/05/2013 17:47

get it flat, which is easy, fold into a figure of 8, by twisting in the middle, and fold that in half, done! go take it from him and do it in one swift motion Grin

ButtonBoo · 27/05/2013 17:53

It's been going on nearly an hour!

DD did go out to 'help' and when it popped up in his face, she ran inside and sat down laughing!

DP has now got it flat and secured with an elastic band and cable tie!! It's twice the size of the bag and he said he's putting it under the stairs for now! Don't think it'll be fitting in any suitcase any time soon!!

YANBU. I used one last week and was hugely grateful that someone else 'popped' it away :)

Haha my friend had this problem at a festival. Obviously dozens of people were watching and laughing at the group efforts to wrestle it away. We finally managed it after much swearing.

SoupDragon · 28/05/2013 16:51

LOL. They are really really easy once you have the knack and only once you have the knack :)

My top tip is for you to practise when your DH isn't around so that you can do it with ease. Then, next time he faffs about with it, tut loudly, wrestle it off him and fold it instantly.

ButtonBoo · 30/05/2013 16:01

It's still under the stairs, half in-half out of the bag and secured with an elastic band and cable tie.

It WILL be coming out this weekend and it WILL be going back in its flaming bag properly. I won't be letting DP 'forget' about it!
