AIBI to be so fed up with being marked down for P&P on Ebay.

I'm now down to 4.6 for P&P & have just had another low score for P&P ( I have 3 of them now). I reuse packaging & only charge for the actual P&P. I never add any extras for sellotape, petrol, time etc. I post everything over £5 by recorded delivery because if I'm sending to a stranger I don't know if they will be trustworthy or not. Also if I overcharge by mistake (the item goes as a large letter) I always refund the difference. What do people want? I can't help it if postage is expensive. I use Royal Mail because it's convenient.

I only get annoyed about p&p if the parcel takes too long to come, or if there is too much packaging. I don't like fighting my way in and out of plastic bags and shrinkwrap, and filling my bins with paper.

Be aware that using Hermes will put some buyers off.

GinOnTwoWheels · 27/05/2013 08:42

Horry - is Hermes the one where the courier leaves the parcel in your wheelie bin or your front doorstep in full view of the road if you're not in?

I was thinking of trying them as a cheaper alternative to RM, but horror stories on the internet put me off.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my previous post is that eBay like to convince buyers that postage is 'free' but obviously the cost has to be paid by sellers. Large sellers can negotiate deals with couriers, but individuals sending a few parcels have to pay the standard rates charged by RM etc.

I'm just about to send off 10 items - haven't sold on eBay in over a year and am Shock at the P & P prices now! Even large letter sized items are ridiculously expensive.
I have sold about 100-130 items over 5 years and only twice had people say they didn't receive things and have to refund them. One of those was someone who had SIGNED for the item and even though I had tracked it to their address they managed to get a refund. I'd say it's not worth putting buyers off for the very small chance that someone tries to rip you off.

There was a thread on here recently about Hermes - some awful stories, I wouldn't use them

McKayz · 27/05/2013 16:59

I use Collectplus. I wouldn't use MyHermes if my life depended on it. Absolutely useless people.
