AIBU to get ds1 to look after dd whilst I do extra hours ?

My ds1 is on study leave only in once a week to do an exam and officially leaves in about 4 weeks

We are skint .... DP works full time , me part time so there is always one of its at home

My DP finishes work at 4.00pm and I start at 4.30pm so like I said he'll be home for the children tonight whilst I work

Dd is at school all day so I'm pottering around the home , sleeping a lot and not doing very much all so I can pick dd up from school at 3.15pm

I could be at work earning money ,

So , AIBU to just go into work once or twice a week for a full day to earn money ? This means that ds 1 will have to pick dd up from school until one of us comes home from work ?

It seems pointless me being here to pick dd up from school when ds1 is willing to do it , he's currently out playing football and has said he'll pick her up

If he is willing to do it, then why ask?

TeenAndTween · 21/05/2013 14:47

YANBU.
Sounds perfectly sensible to me.
Who is making you think you might be being unreasonable?

SirBoobAlot · 21/05/2013 14:48

You need to discuss it with your DS and consider how long this arrangement would work for, seeing as it's the summer holiday's soon, half term before that, and presumably your DS will be going to college in September. How old is DD?

Though I don't understand why if you're skint enough to think about asking your DS to pick up your DD from school, you're spending all the school hours pottering and sleeping rather than doing something then?

No one is making me feel like I'm being unreasonable I have never worked full time since my ds1 who is now 15 and I feel guilty I suppose that they are " latch key kids "

I don't want to feel like I'm using ds1 .

It wint be every week as I'm only contracted part time but I should get more hours some weeks my employer says it shouldn't be a problem

I have 3 children

15 , 12, and 5 yo

My older dcs often looked after the younger ones when they all lived at home.
It was at a price though Grin. They were very good and I had complete trust in them, YADNBU
