I went last week with a mouth complaint to dr. Doctor was lovely, I saw her searching a particular disease on her screen, but she didn't say anything about this disease. she sent me for blood tests and I'm due back tomorrow to discuss results.

I phoned receptionist to ask if my results were back a few days ago, they were and one has come back abnormal. I googled it online and found a disease in particular that is associated with this blood test, and it's the one that the dr was looking at, so I looked myself online and omg, I have most of the symptoms it's scary! I've printed it out and circled the symptoms I have, and I was going to take it to docs tomorrow and show her, but I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac seeing that all I went in with initially, was a mouth complaint but on the other hand, if I have this disease, I would like to be diagnosed and on treatment before it gets worse!

Ask her if she thinks its possible you've got "x,y,z"

Part of her job is to put your mind at ease about what you don't have. She may be able to explain quickly why you don't have this. Take the print out but you may not need to show it her.

Thanks for your replies. When I first went to see her I said I didnt have any other symptoms. Now I have look at the list I have many although put them down to excuses like obesity and working in a stressful environment.

Id have it with me, and let her do the talking. If she hasnt mentioned it by the end, you bring it up.

She clearly has that in mind though.

Yes, this. It is really easy to put symptoms down to something else if you don't know they could be part of a bigger picture. A good doctor won't just expect you to list symptoms but will ask questions which may be what she is going to do tomorrow. But if she doesn't, do ask.

The problem with looking at symptoms is that you very easily can give yourself them. I once diagnosed myself with MS in the basis of having pins and needles. Looking at the symptoms I had about three quarters of the milder symptoms. Most of what I wouldn't have said that I had before I read it. My Gp was very kind to me.

I would do what OHfor Duck says. You want to ask her about it so if she doesn't bring it up, then ask, or you'll be worrying.

Tell her what you're worried about - she can then reassure you or address it, otherwise you'll just keep worrying.
She won't mind at all
