To make dd1 come to the gym with me?

The school have just rang. I had to go and pick her up because she has been sick and is very pale.

No-one witnessed her being sick but she is very pale. However very pale is her natural colouring, I think the school sometimes forget just how pale she is.

She gets away with this almost every time there is a sickness bug going around, her sister had it last week, so it was easier for her to convince them she was sick. She is not sick. I know her well enough to know when she's faking her woe is me face.

She's now blagged herself two days off school either way. I raised an eyebrow when I came to collect her and was immediately told "Oh, she's definitely ill this time, she was sick" No, she sodding wasn't, she is an Oscar worthy performer when the mood takes her and she's always that colour Angry

I missed my last PT session because dd2 was genuinely ill, I don't want to mess the trainer about again because of dd1's amateur dramatics, so would it BU to make her come with? She can sit in the waiting area and play on her Kindle.

Yes, if there is a sickness bug going round the rest of the gym won't want to catch it. Make her go to bed & stay there as she has come home ill from school.

Are you 100% that she is faking it?
If her sister was ill she could have caught it and if you take her to the gym you are risking her infect other people.
I think YABU.

I'd love to RedHelen, but the school believe her plus they'd rather be safe than sorry and they are adamant she is very pale.

Last time she did this to me she asked for a cream cake on the way home Hmm She was frog marched straight back to school of course.

Talk to the school, tell them she is faking if you are sure or she will keep doing it

I would make her go but without the Kindle.
Then when we got home I would make her go straight to bed. No drinks except water. Dry toast only.

Then see if she tries it again.

But then I am a wicked parent because I have done a similar thing with all 3 of mine. Now I know if the school ring me it is because they are actually ill

She will be 10 in December, so she is more than old enough to know better, but she is a very sensitive child. She hates being away from me and hates me working. I've worked the last two weekends, so she hasn't seen much of me.

No, Purple. I know her. I know when there's stuff bothering her and when she just wants to be home with me.

maybe you need to address why she is avoiding school, if you think it's because she misses you, you could try love bombing?

Agree with riots and if the school have sent her home I would give dd the benefit of the doubt especially as your other child has had it.

Could you take her somewhere and have a nice time today, but then at the end of the day before bed tell her this will not be happening again and if you think she is faking next time you will be taking her back to school/going straight to bed etc.

If she is doing it for your attention because she hasn't seen you or had 1on1 time at all recently then I would see this as an opportunity to be with her.

Would you be allowed to?, you wouldn't be able to where DP works no under 18's in the reception.

Think I would send her to bed with nothing going on and some toast and water so you don't 'feed the bug' that's all that stopped me when i was doing it (also Oscar winning sick face)

id take her, my dd used to do this when her brother had been ill, he got two days at home with me so she figured it was her turn.

Yes, take her to the gym, with a school book NOT your kindle.

I can remember doing this at school to get out of a maths test Blush.

Yes, Purple, we go ice-skating together whenever I have a weekend off and she normally joins me on dog walks at the weekend and we have a good chat.

I work split shifts so she gets an hour and a half every Saturday wandering around the local outdoors center with me and the dogs.

We also do movie and popcorn nights on my Sat nights off but her sister is involved in that also.

She's been on the phone and arranged herself a sitter. I think she got a bit worried about me telling her she has to produce actual, visible vomit by tonight or she is grounded until the end of summer.

This way she can produce actual vomit in her Gran's toilet and flush it away before anyone can see it. She forgets I know how she works.

I've tried all these tricks myself, when I was her age.

I know I sound a bit cold, but really, she is doing this because she can. That is all. And because the school believe her she knows there is very little I can do about it, when it comes to D&V, the school would rather play it safe than risk infecting the whole class and the teacher.

When my ds gets sickness bugs he gets the ill feeling but rarely vomits.
