Ok noisy party... WWYD?

Neighbours across road few houses down. Party started at 4pm, with sound system in back garden.

Still going strong, music blaring, in garden. Singing, shouting, general pissed-ness.

Really quiet area - lots of kids and sone older folk.

We don't have any sort of on call music party watch so... WWYD?

I'm in agony with a flare up of endometriosis and adenomyosis too and it's getting on my tits...! All windows are closed, still hear it full volume. DS (2) also disturbed.

Gah! It's midnight. Surely they should be quieting down?

If it's a rare occasion for these people to be having a party I would just leave it and deal with it to be honest. Maybe 1am to complain but if they are generally considerate then occasionally everyone is entitled to be a bit noisy.

Call environmental health if you have it.

There's never any excuse or entitlement to blast music in a residential area at fecking midnight. It's an offense in some cities with an on-the-spot fine issued.

They're new-ish neighbours, been in about a month maybe?

Be nice if they could maybe take the music inside...or turn it down a bit.

I'm shit at any remote form of confrontation so won't go over - DH has been working nights so if flat out in back room!

If you can't cope with it don't call environmental health, what on earth happened to going and asking nicely first? Fair enough if they don't respond but do try the human touch first. A bit extreme as a first move IMO expat.

We don't have noisy parties but I don't object to the neighbours having one once a year, hence the Everyone id entitled to be noisy occasionally comment.

Perhaps you should be asking that question of the neighbours that are blaring their music and disturbing the whole neighbourhood. You get courtesy when you give it.

I think the problem is it makes you feel like an old kill joy. My upstairs neighbour loves to party and I feel 50% raging about the noise and 50% embarrasssed to complain. I texted him last night at 2am and they turned off the music straight away. I think you should ask politely but remember yanbu to ask. Better than festering and letting neighbour think there is no problem.

"You get courtesy when you give it" - true but they are probably so busy having the party that they have forgotten about neighbours being disturbed and a small reminder would be well received and do the job.

I think that's just it - they're new, first noisy party (tho lots of DIY at 7am on the last 3 Saturday's... But hey, DS doesn't believe in sleeping when it's light outside!) and hopefully it's a one off. On the other hand, it's half past midnight and showing absolutely no sign of abating.

Maybe I'll pop over tomo and introduce myself and then mention it?

If they are still going I would phone the police ( 101 ). They won't mind and they may do something.

If they're new, and first noisy party and its still going I'd have to say something or you're going to have to accept this all summer.

But I'll admit I'm too much of a wuss and would send DH.

Around here, outside noise is the Polices responsibility, if its noise from inside their property that you are hearing, then its EH

So music is down - not off but tolerable - and just quiet chatting in garden now. Can hack that - not a complete killjoy - is just blaring music and singing that seemed a tad much at midnight!

It might be a one off? Though I too would wait a while then consider calling 101 if it gets much later. Although it really is quite late now.

I'd just let it go as it's the first time it's happened and it's a bank holiday weekend. When you live in residential areas noise happens. I think people are far too quick to be outraged.

If it becomes a weekly occurance that's another matter.

YANBU, they probably have forgotten a bit but the fact is a sound system shouldn't be going after 11pm in the back garden. Inside the house on a one off, yes its discourteous but a one off and could be forgotten but one outside is very rude and entitled.

I'm guessing it's over now, if I was you (and you did nothing) I'd mention to them if they speak to you and wait and see if it happens again. If it happens again make sure you go around by about 8pm just to say 'could you please keep this one down, last time the music was blaring outside after midnight'.
