still waiting for refund from cancelled course

I was due go do a 3 hour evening course on March 5th, it was only a one off but I was looking forward to it. I get quite anxious in group situations as have social anxiety so I had worked myself up only to find when I got there it had been cancelled. I was really quite annoyed as I had no phone call, they even admitted they had forgot to call me, it not even an easy task to just get out of the house as I had to make sure my youngest had been fed(breast fed) and sort my toddler out, my mom came to baby sit as my husband dropped me at the course so a load of faff before I got there!

Anyway I'm still awaiting the refund of £55. I can't afford to lose the money and I have phoned a number of times and even gone in and I just keep being told the paper work has been delayed. I'm just really worried now I will lose my money. I phoned last week and they said I should get my money this week bit still no sign. Not sure who to speak to now as who ever I speak to on switchboard says the department the course is in will deal with it but they obviously haven't. What would you do now?

Make a complaint! That is really shit that they didn't even bother to tell you before you turned up and now you have to keep chasing them to get your money back.

I am going to make a complaint I think but don't know who to as I keep getting fobbed off. Even the head of department didn't know what course I had gone to do so she wasn't great either! Offered me a shampoo and blow dry( I had gone to do an Indian head massage course) but i told her i just wanted to go home as had 2 young children at home.

How did you pay? If by visa debit or credit card I think you could ask our card issuer to dispute it as goods or services not received. If they o this thy should recreational you straight away though they will subsequently take the money back out if its shown you I'd receive the goods or service.

I paid by debit card and I have been to the bank a few times to make sure the payment has not already gone into my account. I asked them how I would receive payment and they said a cheque but I don't know how that can be if I paid by debit card. It definately has not gone in though. Thanks mysteryfairy I didn't know that.
