Person 1 has to get up at 6am every week day.
Person 2 gets up at 9am every week day.
Neither can go to bed particularly early - both go at around 11. (Person 1 has work to do and person 2 doesn't need any more sleep).

At the weekend, neither has to get up until 9am.

Person 1 would like to get up a little later than this on a Sunday, say 10am. So would person 2.

Is it more fair for them to take turns, to allow Person 1 or allow Person 2?

As others have said, 9am is a lie in, so I think person 1 should get it every week although could on occasion (only by their own choice) offer it to person 2. The only exception would be if person 2 were up in the night a lot.

I'm intrigued to know the arrangements - are these v young children who miraculously sleep until 9am every day??

Yes, they are young children who sleep late!

We live in a hot climate, they tend to wake late, nap in the day, then go to sleep late.

Could you nap in the afternoons when dc nap. That's what I used to do. It's all that kept me sane. Mine don't nap anymore (17, 15 & 6) but I still occasionally do. That's what the TV is for.

Ah, I've too much work to do.

Doesn't matter now, window of opportunity well and truly closed, but next week the lie-in is MINE!

Id say jog on person 2 ive been up at six every morning go bed an hour earlier on a saturday night,theres your hour extra.

I have been in bed the whole day.
