Ok, it is a DM link, but given the information, who is responsible?

And why oh why would you ring the papers with this story???

Really??

And how are Vodafone ever going to extract that sort of money out of this man? And if they don't manage to get this man to pay, who will end up paying? I mean, surely the girls have already been paid..that's how it works isn't it? They get paid by the minute, and now someone has to foot the bill for that??

Should vodafone pay?

There is no link

DM or otherwise

littlemisssarcastic · 07/04/2013 19:33

Oh shit crap!! I forgot that bit. Grin

Here it is

Are you talking about the idiot who ran up a £90k phone bill ringing chatlines? Because he was sad that he'd split up with his girlfriend the fucking twat.

MadamFolly · 07/04/2013 19:35

Can you give a summary of story so don't have to click link?

I think he is lucky that vodafone have agreed to wipe 70k off of the bill.

He knew how much the lines cost, and he called them continuously for months. Even when Vodafone send him a large bill he still carried on calling.

ChaoticTranquility · 07/04/2013 19:42

He should pay.

littlemisssarcastic · 07/04/2013 19:42

Yes, I am SarahStratton. Grin
I am quite surprised he chose to go to the DM with his story, and am interested to know who is going to pay up. I mean, the girls who provide this service will have already been paid for much of the time he spent talking to them I'd imagine, so if this man chooses not to pay, who will have to foot the bill??

I'm quite sure I wouldn't want my face plastered all over the paper wrt that story. He must be desperate!!

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 07/04/2013 19:44

He should pay. Silly man.
What's he on about?
He carried on after getting a bill for 19000!
He got a new sim after they blocked his.
How can he claim it's anyone's fault but his?

HotCrossPun · 07/04/2013 19:48

Madamefolly - Summery from top of article -

'Why didn't they cut me off?' Lonely man runs up £91,184 phone bill calling daytime chat line after splitting up with his girlfriend
Kevin Waldrum, 45, ran up £91,184 phone bill calling adult chat lines
Began calling after splitting from girlfriend of 2 years
Claims he was unaware of costs and should have been 'cut off'
Continued to call after receiving first bill of £19,333.63 from Vodafone
Company barred his SIM but he obtained a new one to continue calling
Vodafone has cut total bill of £91,184 to £29,083 in 'goodwill'
Mr Waldrum has called the offer 'rubbish' and refuses to pay

catgirl1976 · 07/04/2013 20:04

Yup he should pay

It's a bit like saying William Hill should have stopped me before I gambled away my home so I'm not paying

SarahStratton · 07/04/2013 20:09

Prick.

ihearsounds · 07/04/2013 20:21

His own fault. No-one at vodaphone forced him to constantly call. They didn't force him to continue with the calls after the first bill. They didn't force him into the store and order a replacement sim. He did all that himself, and he needs to face up to reality and pay his bill. The entire amount, not the reduced amount.

Vodaphone hasn't ruined his life. He did this to himself.

littlemisssarcastic · 07/04/2013 20:22

I have no idea how Vodafone are going to get him to pay anyway. He is currently unemployed.

What can they/he do? You can't get blood out of a stone.

OP posts:
ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 07/04/2013 20:38

why didn't they cut me off

That made me laugh

They DID!

He got a new sim!

Even if he pays a pound a week and it never gets cleared he should accept full responsibility for his choices. It is the whole whiney whinging 's'not my fault' that is nauseating.

He chose to call chatlines.
He chose to carry on doing it even after he got a £19000 bill.
He chose to get a new sim when they blocked his and carry on calling!

I fail to see why they even offered him any reduction in the first place.

And for him to go moaning to the papers makes him look like a fool.

KobayashiMaru · 07/04/2013 20:48

What a wanker. Literally. I doubt all he was talking about was his sad life on an adult chat line......

Softlysoftly · 07/04/2013 20:50

He should pay the full value however long it takes and any assets of value should be seized.

Arse

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 07/04/2013 20:53

let's give him the benefit of the doubt, Kobayashi

DoJo · 07/04/2013 22:04

I think it makes Vodaphone look pretty generous that they have offered the reduction, so if he's hoping to discredit them then he's failed as far as I'm concerned.

E320 · 07/04/2013 22:10

He should pay up.
Calling the Samaritans would probably have done the same job & been a lot cheaper!

CloudsAndTrees · 07/04/2013 22:11

Without a doubt, he should pay.

He sounds like a prize pillock who is now just trying to get out of his responsibility to stand by his mistake by going to the papers.

What a twat.

littlemisssarcastic · 08/04/2013 10:25

Just checked the DM article again. 2296 comments!!! Shock

Not clicking on the link.

But no sympathy for the idiot.

HappyMummyOfOne · 08/04/2013 10:47

He should pay up. Anybody who runs up a large bill on mobiles or apps should regardless of blaming it on the kids or not knowing there are charges. Personal responsibility.
