While Dh does the bath. I've just popped to Sainsburys to pick up the stuff he forgot earlier, and frankly after a day of house work, a week of ill toddler and manic work deadlines, I feel the need for 5mins peace. Even if its sat looking at mums net in the car outside while he desks with the daily meltdown of ds and dd. AIBU?

Definitely not being unreasonable. Have you got snacks?

YouTheCat · 06/04/2013 18:38

Sounds fair.

Has your dh had a 5 minute break?

mrsrvc · 06/04/2013 18:40

Dh has had a number of breaks and did no cleaning. (Infact trashed the kitchen after I'd scrubbed it). No snacks sadly. Might have to go in soon and give dd the boob. Half of me thinks he'll be waiting for me with them both infront of the TV!

Sounds reasonable to me.

YouTheCat · 06/04/2013 18:42

Go in. Give dd a feed and then go out again for an hour or two.

Purpleknickers · 06/04/2013 18:43

Absolutely NBU 5 mins? I'd make it 15 at least

SaltaKatten · 06/04/2013 18:44

Maybe get some nice chocolate as well.

grants1000 · 06/04/2013 18:44

If I were you I'd drive to the nearest pub and have a (soft) drink. Get a paper and fine and quiet corner for 30 mins minimum.

I used to do just this when mine were very little and DH workde away M-T I would just leave the house for an hour or or so just get them out of my head and unravel my brain - I came back a much happier girl. Sometimes I would sit in the service station car park with Hello or OK! and read in peace in the car with classic FM on with a Costa or M&S fresh lemonade, bliss

uncongenial · 06/04/2013 18:44

Agree with Purple, 5 minutes doesn't seem long enough.

HelloBear · 06/04/2013 18:47

NU at all, done the exact thing myself a number of times, even better if radio4 has a play/book on. I think my neighbours think I'm a loon.

Enjoy

I have this mental image of women across the country sat in cars relaxing mnetting and harassed partners doing bedtime :)
