To do the bare minimum?

DP works 4 on 4 off, he is on day one of on, meaning work 6-6. DS1 is potty training, DS2 is babying around (13 weeks). Both boys go to bed before DP gets in, meaning on 4 on i do the whole shebang bath bed etc, And also try to have bottles done and dinner ready before Dp gets home.(he doesnt expect this btw, I just like to as im on ML so sort of feel I should, on his off days we share all tasks)

I try not to leave the tv on all day, try to get out each day but due to potty training we haven't been going far. Nonetheless i do try an play with both boys etc.

Today i have woken up feeling like a lump of shit. My throat HURTS, to the point it hurts to swallow, breathe etc. Ive had some of DS1s ventolin just to ease my bastard chest.

WIBU to do the bare minimum today? I.e feed them, change DS2, help / remind Ds1 about the potty, talk croak to DS2 (which makes him happy easily pleased) but other than that let tv entertain?

I want to crawl behind a bush and die not dramatic at all

I don't think it hurts anyone to have a day not being the all-singing all-dancing mum at all.

Take it easy and you'll feel better quicker.

YANBU I don't get of my arse at all rest when I'm unwell. hope you feel better soon :)

HollyBerryBush · 03/04/2013 09:51

Have a duvet day - that's what they were invented for

Tailtwister · 03/04/2013 09:52

YANBU. Take time to recuperate or you may find yourself getting worse and taking longer to recover. You need to look after yourself.

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 03/04/2013 09:53

YABU, you forgot to add eat a 'big bar of chocolate' to your list of tasks

Feel better soon

"everyone fed, no one dead" should be your mantra today. Get DH to pick up a takeaway on the way home.

Have you got a garden that DS 1 can let off steam in?

Otherwise, I would say totally have a TV and duvet day but drag yourselves out for 10 mins in the afternoon, otherwise you start to feel a bit inhuman (I have a 20 month old and a 10 week old, so I do appreciate how hard it is to get everyone out of the door but this keeps me sane!). Get well soon.

StrawberriesTasteLikeLipsDo · 03/04/2013 09:58

Thanks all hand yes will turf DS out the garden for a bit of crazed charging about play later.

Just had some chocolate. Medicinal naturally!

Yanbu.

U did this day after Mother's Day, was so sick I couldn't even pick up dd as I felt so weak.

She had cereal bar and fruit for breakfast, beans on toast for lunch and frozen leftovers bunged in oven for tea.

I childproofed to the max and lay on sofa with a blanket shivering.

As a lone parent with closest family 400 miles away I had no choice. The one friend I could of asked was also sick.

Dd (13mo) was unbelievably sweet about it, played quietly, no screeching, occasionally crawled over to give me a hug, babble me a story or share her blankie.

Herrena poor you but what a lovely DD you have!
