to consider spending my bonus on something frivolous?

at the end of the month I will be receiving a work related bonus which will just about scrape into 4 figures (by a few pennies) after tax.

I am waiting to buy my exP out of our house, but as he is a complete tosserwon't accept any reasonable offers that is stalemated, and likely to be for some time. Now I could just put the money towards that, it's what I've done with any bonus I've received in past years, but I actually feel like just blowing some of it on something a bit silly, and entirely for myself. not least because I work bloody hard (am out of the house 11-12 hours a day) and am a LP to 2 teenagers, which is also not easy! So AIBU?

And if I am, what would you do with the money?

I should add that I am able to buy Exp out by increasing mortgage and using other savings, so the bonus wouldn't make the difference between being able to and not, iyswim.

The other thing I should add is that my house is a building site, and needs £s spent on it to finish it (but I am reluctant to do much to it while Exp and I are still negotiating over the value...as the less its worth the less I have to pay him etc)

I'm going to go against the grain and say spend half on yourself and save the other half for a rainy day. Having said that, my very first bonus was £800 20 years ago and I spent the lot on a lovely Persian rug. I still love it and have never regretted spending my entire bonus on it. I've spent every other bonus I've ever had on reducing the mortgage, not nearly so much fun.

Don't bother with the false lashes. They drag you own out and only last 2 minutes, so you end up worse off than where you started. Buy some of the lash lengthening serum instead and grow your own! Why have you been put off from Botox? How old are you? I defo vote for don't do the house up and increase it's value at this point!

I will never grow mine long enough! but I dont want to damage my real ones, may have to stick to the glue on ones then and save £30!

the botox - mainly because I've been told I don't need it yet (I am 40 but don't have that many lines, I am conscious of some but am told they are not noticeable at all...so am thinking of delaying it for a few years!)

We spent DH's bonus last year on NT life membership, it's well worth it as it means free days out and decent places to stop off en- route to places instead of service stations.

I am a firm believer of blowing even just a portion of any bonuses on something frivolous that you really want. I think its a great reward and motivator for hard work.

My partner got a pay rise and a bonus recently and he was going to be very sensible and put it all in our saving - I told him to blow it on anything he wanted, so he bought a massive new guitar amp, some video games and put the other half in savings. He worked bloody hard for it, so why not?!
