Not sure what the right mumsnettiquette is when reposting in higher traffic topics so I'm sorry if this is wrong :)

you're not alone

any of those remedies suitable for you to try?

FarBetterNow · 23/03/2013 11:05

Cut out dairy products and sugar from your diet.

grapelovingweirdo · 23/03/2013 12:21

That's an intriguing tip, how does that help? Think ill give it a go! Smile

For some people (me included) dairy is mucus producing. Someone did a study a few years ago and said this wasn't the case but I just dont think they surveyed the right people as I know quite a few for whom this is the case. As humans we were not built to drink milk outside of infancy anyway.

Sigh and I love dairy it just doesn't agree with me

Also have a look on YouTube for Neti-Pot for sinus rinsing, it may help. You can use a sports water bottle or try in the shower (not on full blast mind)

I'm pretty sure the dairy/mucus link has been disproved.

In the country where I live, you squirt saline solution up your nose. I haven't tried it to myself but it's been working on DD this week!

I'm with you OP. It is such a minor thing but when it's unrelenting it really gets you down!

I recently started using a syringe to squirt cooled boiled water with salt dissolved in it. You can get a product specifically for this (neti pot or something?). It feels freaking weird but it does help.

Also - boiled water in a bowl, squeeze a Karvol capsule into it, put a thick towel over your head/the bowl, and close your mouth so the steam has to go up your nose. I always hated being made to do this as a child but have recently gone back to doing it as it really helps. Have tissues nearby as it is quite surprising how much falls out of your nose
