To be mildly irritated when i think a parking space is available only to find a smart car or similar parked. Nothing against small car but could they park a bit more central in space so they can be seen. Know i probably abu.

I have a small car. If I tuck it in I won't get hit if there is an accident and the bigger cars will. Can I ask if people with bigger cars could please not park in small car spaces? Especially if they can't park and take up two spaces because they are selfish arseholes.

CockyFox · 20/03/2013 14:43

I am guilty of this but only because we are a two car family and when I drive the big estate I have to pull right forward to fit it in the space and as I rarely drive the tiny car ( the one DH uses for commuting and a good 4ft shorter than mine) so when I do I automatically pull right forward.

livinginwonderland · 20/03/2013 14:49

i have a small car and it gets tucked in so it doesn't get hit.

I parked my Mini Cooper in between two mahoosive 4x4s at the gym this morning. It did look like there was a space in between and it was a good one right by the door so lots of people would have tried it I reckon. Shame. Grin

NettoSuperstar · 20/03/2013 14:57

I'm guilty of this, I drive a Toyota IQ.
Sorry Thanks

lljkk · 20/03/2013 17:47

Radio 5, Thursday afternoons, the Moan-in, you'd be a shoo-in, OP.

Blu · 20/03/2013 17:52

You, see this is why I LOVE massive great 4x4s in the narrow cingested streets of inner London, on their way to Sainsbury's car park.

SO much easier to see.

Maybe drivers of Smart cars etc could stick a flag to the roof? Or emit a plume of coloured novelty smoke from the windscreen washer jets?

I am love your use of the word 'probably; in the last line of your OP, OP. You are a true optimist. [optimist award]

CloudsAndTrees · 20/03/2013 17:53

The roller coaster of emotion while driving round a car park to repeatedly be lulled into believing that you have found a much coveted space, only to have your hopes trampled over at the last minute upon sight of a tiny excuse for a vehicle, is indeed a minor irritant that should be banned.

YANBU

Nirvana1999 · 20/03/2013 17:55

I always get caught out by this too. I should know better, I drive a Mini.

aldiwhore · 20/03/2013 17:57

YABU.

Maybe I parked first and the bloody gynormous ones parked after me, hiding me completely.

I have a pirate flag on my car now (for the children so I can find the damn thing) and that is usually visible.

I have more to worry about day to day than whether some big ass car is going to be disappointed that I've parked correctly.

Shesparkles · 20/03/2013 17:59

Even worse when it's a motorbike slap bang in the middle of a space!

Tailtwister · 20/03/2013 18:11

Ah yes, I can identify with this! Where we live, there is a busy shopping street with car parking down the middle. Spaces are like hen's teeth and there's always a leap of excitement when you think there's a space. 9/10 it's a small car or a motorbike space (99.9% of which are never bloody occupied and are free to the bargain!).

NettoSuperstar · 20/03/2013 18:26

To make it worse, I park in the large disabled spaces, in my tiny Toyota IQ.
I do have a blue badge so am allowed to, but I'm sure I piss people off.

gordyslovesheep · 20/03/2013 18:29

I would reverse your AIBU - when I had my mini I used to come back EVERY TIME and find moosive people carrier and penis extension SUV's parked either side - meaning I had to reverse out blind - it works both ways Grin

Neighbourhoodwatchbitch · 20/03/2013 18:58

I always get caught out by this!! YANBU...!! I always giggle and call myself a numpty though!

NettoSuperstar · 20/03/2013 19:06

Yes Gordy
All the bloody time, not only that but men can't stand me overtaking and almost always have to go back past.
A woman driving a silly small car full of pink stuff can't possibly pass them.
The thing that bothers me, is that I stick to the speed limit, but they will go over just to pass.
Small cocks Idiots.

dragongirlx · 21/03/2013 09:52

I drive a small car and 9 times out of 10 when I park it I come back to find two enormous cars parked on either side. I swear people in large cars hunt through the entire car park till they can find a small car to hide. Makes reversing out fun.
