I h e been close to the whole family for 20 years. Her brother and I have always had a little something and I saw him for the first time in five years last week. We ended up sitting up talking all night and we kissed and it was just perfect. He wants to see if we can try dating and see where it goes but Im worried my friend won't be happy

Just go for it - it's rare to find a man with whom there's perfect chemistry & to get on really well with them too. YANBU.

Well personally I can say that all the women I am friends with are more than good enough for my brother and he for them so wouldn't have a problem myself. You have a 20 year friendship behind you, even if things with her brother did go sour I am sure your friendship would continue

Oooh I would feel very odd at a close friend dating my brother.

He is 10 years younger than me though so maybe that's why.

your friend can't exactly stop you. if you guys like each other, go for it :) you're adults, not teenagers.

Surely your friend would rather have someone she knows and likes dating her brother?

Love conquers all... BUT if your friend is a good one I would tell her before she finds out from the grapevine. Hopefully she'll be happy for you but it could be awkward so if you wish to preserve both relationships I think it would be well worth setting a few ground rules (like you won't tell her secrets to her brother, won't bitch about either of them to the other etc.,).

It's never been weird and she was never funny about it.

Ive dated many friends brothers including my best friend. Never caused problems and I dated one as a teen and even when we split up it didnt cause any problems shes still my best friend.

Could get messy. But I don't see why your friend would be funny about it.
