The best is the stuff with icing on top. If I had some here I'd be hoovering it into my mouth! YANBU

It's a piece of piss to make...I personally would either do it in a pyrex dish (it may take longer this way) or put it in two loaf tins and make two cakes as there's a LOT of mix. It also rises a lot. Line your tin with greaseproof paper as well as my last one got stuck as it's so gooey.

With butter, with butter! Mmm. Ginger cake used to be Granny's special supper for me and DSis when we stayed at hers. Ginger cake with butter and a mug of hot chocolate made with goat's milk. Now I'm all grown up I don't get farmed out to stay with Granny any more and I miss it! It's not the same when I make it myself.

CookieLady · 19/03/2013 21:51

YANBU but only if you eat it warm with vanilla ice cream!

Fakebook · 19/03/2013 21:56

I'll try that, my DH loves ginger. He puts fresh ginger in everything he cooks .

ScarletLady02 · 19/03/2013 22:02

It's really good Fakebook - it's not too sweet or sickly. I love the one you can buy....but in my opinion this is far nicer and much more addictive (not sure if that's a good thing as I look at my expanding waistline).

My gran makes the best ginger cake ever.

With lemon icing and chocolate flakes.

Fakebook · 19/03/2013 22:06

Homemade things are much tastier I've found. Like doughnuts, I never buy doughnuts from shops anymore ever since I learnt how to make them. They taste so much better.

INeverSaidThat · 19/03/2013 22:07

YANBU
Not at all.

CookieLady · 19/03/2013 22:13

Damn it, ScarletLady, all I can think about now is ginger cake. Envy

ScarletLady02 · 19/03/2013 22:13

Muahahahahaaaaaaaa
