To think this is such bad manners...

I advertised my pram and car seat on a local website, free to good home.
I had about five replies saying could they please have it but I went with the first reply and the lady arranged to collect the next day.
She didn't arrive and so far she has cancelled 4 times, so that's four times I have fetched it out of the store cupboard upstairs and waited in for her.
I contacted her saying if it's not gone today (she arranged to be here at 1.30 today) I will take it to the charity shop. She promised faithfully to be here on time....and guess what, I am sitting here waiting for her again!
Raaaar such bad manners!
And breathe...rant over!

I would have offered it so someone else after her first no show

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 14/03/2013 14:18

Report her to the group moderator, they might be able to ban or blacklist her.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 14/03/2013 14:19

YANBU that is very rude, she is getting something for nothing after all, you are doing her a favour! Can you not offer it to the second person who responded to your advert, I'm sure they would be more grateful?

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/03/2013 14:19

I don't know why she got the chance to cancel twice. One no show and it goes to someone else.

Purplehonesty · 14/03/2013 14:26

I should have done that yes but she was so apologetic and I felt bad....I was totally cringing saying one more chance as it was!

Ah she has just rung and said she is lost. An hour late on a ten minute journey...hmm that's some detour

YANBU, she's being very rude. You've given her enough chances, give it to the next one!

DinglebertWangledack · 14/03/2013 14:31

Where are you and what kind of pram is it as if you are anywhere near me I could use the pram at least! :)

cherrycarpet · 14/03/2013 14:35

I've had similar experiences and it's such a wind-up. YANBU but next time make it clear that if they don't show it'll go to the next person on the list! Some people are sooooo rude!

Purplehonesty · 14/03/2013 14:44

Ahhh she has been and gone thank goodness! She brought me some chocolates to say sorry and a toy for my dd so now i feel bad for complaining!
An hour and a quarter late tho on her last chance jeezo I wouldn't have the cheek to show up if it was me!

Re-advertise. She's rude and clearly an arse to mess you around.

Purplehonesty · 14/03/2013 14:46

Dingle ah sorry it's gone it was a mamas and papas primo viaggio really ideal as a spare one but we never used it.
I have a maxi cosi pebble seat and base for the car also going but it's advertised at £100 currently.
North Scotland if you fancy a trip up!!

Why do I only see the last post after I posted a comment.

Phew, glad she showed up with a good apology Grin

INeverSaidThat · 14/03/2013 15:07

That is a nice outcome. She sounds like she appreciated it. Smile

DinglebertWangledack · 16/03/2013 15:50

Am a bit far and nearest friend I have to scotland is in Glasgow :o

numbum · 16/03/2013 16:09

I bet she's a mumsnetter and saw this!

Bluelightsandsirens · 16/03/2013 16:12

Rude even with a chocolate apology.

lljkk · 16/03/2013 17:58

Lesson learned, I tell collectors that if they don't turn up when they say or within X many days that I will offer to next person, this seems to do the trick, haven't had a no-show in years.
