My DH. It's FIL birthday today. DH asked him a few weeks ago if he would like to go out for a meal FIL answer was - No I'm not bothered.
DH popped up last night with pressies and cards. During the conversation FIL mentioned he was going out for a meal with SIL and her daughter. My DH came home and was rather subdued. I told him he should have told his dad there and then that he was upset. AIBU?

No, YANBU. How rude. Not sure what you should do about it though.

YANBU.That would hurt.
I think your DH should have said something at the time.As it might just have been a insensitive oversight

Maybe he doesnt want to go out for that meal either, maybe it was presented as a done deal that he found it difficult to say no to? If that's the case he'd probably prefer the way your dh asked and didn't assume.
