To be irritated about the MN JustGiving Ad on my iphone

Okay, so I know there are bigger things in life BUT It's located at the bottom of the screen on my iphone and regularly opens every time I scroll down. It doesn't make me want to give any more money. In fact, I'm less likely to as I feel 'intruded upon'. There'll be people who will argue for me to improve my scrolling skills... but it's easily inadvertently touched when scrolling down to read the posts. It just pisses me off that I spend time having to close down the Just Giving page in order to continue reading the thread

Haha I completely agree! The number of times I have accidentally hit it with my fat fingers drives me mad Grin

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/03/2013 07:33

I'm on an iPhone and I don't have it

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/03/2013 07:33

they get about a zillion hits a day from me.

Cosmosim · 13/03/2013 07:39

Ditto. Wonder if Vodafone realise it's been purposefully designed to get fat-finger hits rather than real ones.

JakeBullet · 13/03/2013 07:41

Im on Android and have fat fingers. ...and I have the same problem. Yeah I get its not the most pressing issue in life ....just annoyingGrin

lottie63 · 13/03/2013 07:42

AKiss - How do you not have it? I m on MN through the app. Do you think this is the difference? Do you access MN from another source? It really is doing my head in. It feels like the virtual equivalent of being accosted in the street by students wanting money to save 'Siberian Tigers'

AKiss have you really not got the ad? Have you ever had it? Wish I could hide mine

Flisspaps · 13/03/2013 07:43

YANBU. Drives me fucking mad.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2013 07:44

Mobile site. Ads are below the posting box. I barely see them, never mind tap them.

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/03/2013 07:45

Oh that's why then. I just access the site through safari rather than the app.

WhoeverHeardOfAWormskinRug · 13/03/2013 07:47

YANBU - I am forever hitting it by accident and it's incredibly annoying. I already give plenty to charity and have used justgiving many times in the past so I don't need to be guilted into more!

booge · 13/03/2013 07:56

Drives me potty too.

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/03/2013 08:13

So what does using the app give you that accessing through safari doesn't (apart from annoying ads?)

lottie63 · 13/03/2013 08:15

Not sure really. It's quicker to access possibly.. Have turned on auto log in with it

OP posts:
Novia · 13/03/2013 08:16

I agree - really pisses me off too!

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/03/2013 08:40

You can stay signed in if you just access through safari too though.

Tee2072 · 13/03/2013 09:21

Heart ache and aggravation, so far as I can tell. Grin

Areyoumadorisitme · 13/03/2013 11:11

YANBU at all, I find it really annoying and not at all more likely to make me give money.

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/03/2013 12:57

Are mn being paid per click? If so i bet they are making a killing

AKissIsNotAContract · 13/03/2013 13:12

So why don't you all vote with your fingers, stop using the app and just access MN through Safari?

lottie63 · 15/03/2013 06:24

I suppose I feel irritated that I have to do that to avoid the ad. I still have this feeling that it may be quicker to use the app though of course in reality I end up taking longer to read the thread as I have to go through the rigmarole of closing the ad page down which takes longer.

However, Apps exist for a reason, don't they...they're supposed to be quicker access to things you want.

It's infuriating!

wigglesrock · 15/03/2013 07:07

I hate it too, and I've already had Kindle Fire and MN issues, so my tether is very short.
