To co-sleep, am I doing it right?

Just read another post which has got me worrying and I know this isn't strictly aibu. We co-sleep with our 11 month old baby, dp, me, baby, in that order. I've got one of those foam wedgy things next to baby under the sheet so baby can't fall out or get trapped under. I sleep on my side turned into baby with my underneath arm stretched out over the top of baby's head. I have a duvet but have it wrapped over me and tucked in my legs and not over my shoulders, baby has a cellular blanket and sleeps in a babygro and vest. I breastfeed. I'm average weight, don't smoke, never drink and am not totally sleep deprived.

We slept exactly the same with older dd and I can't imagine not sleeping with baby (he starts off in cot and comes in when wakes for feed). Just got a bit of fear.

You're doing just fine!

PirateHat · 12/03/2013 20:26

What are you worried about?

EricNorthmanIsMyMaker · 12/03/2013 20:27

That sounds perfectly fine to me. I do similar to you. And you lo is old enough now that you don't have to worry as much as if they were newborn.
What did you read that worried you?

bonzo77 · 12/03/2013 20:34

The only other things you might want to consider are:
Sleeping bags for both of you instead of loose covers.
Bed wedged into corner and against wall.
Rolled up towels wedged into any gaps.

I read the other thread about the hubby asleep on sofa and didn't want to hijack that with my worry, or really start a thread about a thread. Just felt so much for the women who lost their babies and wondered if I was being safe enough.

There is a massive difference between sofa sleeping and safe bed cosleeping. Massive. Agree with comment about sleeping bag if you're worried about blankets but if its working for you all, I wouldn't change a thing.

Have just read the other thread. As carolra said there is a massive difference. Sleeping on the sofa is not recommendedfor many reasons. Co sleeping in bed in a safe manner is fine.
