I have sick, I have a chest infection, with a very rattly crackly chest, I have pain in my back/lungs & front, I am diabetic, so have been given antibiotics, which I have a 10% chance of being allergic to as I am to penicillin. It is a snow day, school is closed. Husband is working from home & is sat on the bed on his laptop. I just want to sit here weeping softly, in an armchair, with a cup of tea. Not sure there is anypoint to this message but I WANT SOME SYMPATHY!!! And a chocolate biscuit.

Lots of sympathy, chocolate biscuits and tea from me too.

My daughter is off school with a sore throat, feeling sick etc. She has just asked for a biscuit and when I pointed out that a biscuit might not be great for a sore throat (scratchy) she argued that it would help because her throat is itchy and the biscuit would scratch the itch. Hmm So with that logic, have another biscuit.

fuzzpig · 12/03/2013 13:59

Actually Knid, there is truth in that! Something about scratching promoting the healing process, or something. I always crave crisps and crackers when I have a sore throat. :)

That said, I also have hot squash or apple juice with honey!

TheVermiciousKnid · 12/03/2013 14:02

Luckily she's not on Mumsnet and will never read this heresy about biscuits being good for sore throats.

The Marshmallow in a Tunnocks Teacake would be very soothing. Wink

MsPickle · 12/03/2013 14:05

When I had my tonsils out aged 21 they told me to eat scratchy things, cornflakes, crisps etc to prevent scabbing and promote healing. Ds when he had hand/foot/mouth only wanted ready salted crisps. Took him all day to get through a packet but he ate them! Get well soon OP, DH should tuck you up and take screen/keyboard breaks to minister to you.

TheVermiciousKnid · 12/03/2013 14:45

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 12/03/2013 14:47
