aibu to think we have wasted enough of the tax payers money. let the punishment fit the crime, just take away their driving licences, - for good.

I have to say, I was laughing at the thought of them going to prison for this.

The initial crime was not horrendous in the grand scheme of things. It is the dishonesty that they are being dealt with for now.

I think it is hilarious that she unthinkingly tried to get her own back on the man who left her for someone else and is now going through this.

I know he treated her badly and she was angry and wanted revenge, but for a reasonably intelligent woman, she was very stupid in how she went about it. They both deserve all they get.

It's always nice when members of the 'Great and Good' class get a drubbing. Bunch of arrogant tossers.

ruby1234 · 11/03/2013 10:51

It's Huhne.

ruby1234 · 11/03/2013 10:53

and Pryce.

OhDearieDearieMe · 11/03/2013 10:54

Christ - if you're going to start a smirky thread then get their fucking names right!

rollmopses · 11/03/2013 10:58

Its never the crime, it's always the cover-up (that gets you).
President Nixon (apparently)

coatonarack · 11/03/2013 11:35

Ouch, deariedearie - take some Bachs Rescue Remedy and calm down dear, it's only Mumsnet.

But they won't be able to drive whilst they're in prison. Shall we start a sweepstake on the length of porridge?

squeakytoy · 11/03/2013 13:36

She looks like the chef Nigel Slater..

Scholes34 · 11/03/2013 14:04

My dad thinks they should each get three years and be expected to share a cell with each other!

LadyPessaryPam · 11/03/2013 14:14

OhDearieDearieMe must be a paid up LibDem! Grin

Writehand · 11/03/2013 14:16

It's an amazing story. All that tragedy and vengeance played out in public. It's interesting that she's Greek, because this tale is classic Greek tragedy: the great brought down by hubris, pursued by furies.

She was so outraged at what he'd done to her and their children that she was prepared to bring the whole edifice of their lives down on them, like Samson in the temple. The marble columns and ceiling collapsed round them.

Now they stand among the wreckage of their super successful careers, and all because of his adultery, basically. Bet he regrets how he dumped her now. I wonder if she thinks what she did was worth it. I suspect she probably does.

And how does the other woman feel? That's an interesting thing to speculate about.

It's better than a play and, if anyone says I'm heartless to see them as entertainment, I'd reply that the pair of them fought to be in the public eye all their working lives. They put themselves on the stage, though they didn't expect to play the roles they have now.

Sugarice · 11/03/2013 14:26

I reckon 1 year for him and 6 months for her.

fedupofnamechanging · 11/03/2013 14:36

I feel very sorry for her. In her shoes I'd have done the same and fuck the consequences. Watching him squirm is worth doing porridge for.

Writehand · 11/03/2013 16:06

I'm with you, Karma. In her shoes I think I'd have done the same and as you so rightly say fuck the consequences.

What a nasty little shit he is. And leaving her for his aide? How drearily predictable. How lazy. That's not love. It's proximity.

sashh · 11/03/2013 16:13

I feel sorry for their kids.

LadyPessaryPam · 11/03/2013 17:08

Both get 8 months.

OhDearieDearieMe · 11/03/2013 17:09

dearie is nothing of the sort Pam m'lady. I just think if you're going to start a smartarse thread then get it, you know, at least 50% right?
Lib Dem my arse - I wouldn't dare show my face in public!

Lynned · 11/03/2013 17:14

Oops, didn't think it was smartarse, and I get names spelling, and faces wrong all the time... My profuse apologies for offending anyone. Taking their licenses would cost nothing, the kids would be ok, and they would have an essential/privilege taken away. Though I rather like the idea of locking them in a cell together.
