Vodafone - and how to identify myself...

OK, long story short (hopefully). I'm having problems with Vodafone. I ported across just under a month ago and although the number change worked fine, the tariff I want to be on did not set properly.

I have phoned them 3 times (each time credited £10 - as a "goodwill gesture"!) I have also emailed them twice, the first time leading to them to email me to say they had called me (they quoted the wrong number) and asking me to contact them with a good time to call. I was in, so emailed them straight back - within 5 mins - and told them my correct number and said I was available all afternoon. Nothing. So I emailed back the next day asking if they would contact me and they said I need to go to a shop as they cannot access my account...

Yesterday I saw a link on mn to the CEO's email. I emailed them and got a call today. From an Indian call centre. A very, very strong accent and I had to keep asking her to repeat herself. "To identify myself", as apparently calling me on the number I am querying about isn't enough Hmm, she wanted to know 1) when I last topped up, 2) how much credit I have on my account and 3) my sim number. I have only topped up once but she said the date was wrong (I have a text message to confirm it and no-one else has disputed it), I only have their app to go by how much I have left (which I couldn't access as I was on the phone to her) and I have an iphone which needs a tool to take the sim card out which I don't carry around with me - and anyway IT IS THE SIM THEY PORTED MY NUMBER TOO!

AIBU to be annoyed, especially by their request for my sim number?

The only time I've had a problem with vodaphone, I used their message board to vent my rage and it got sorted out within 24hrs by a separate msgboard team. I even got a new phone within 36hrs which was amazing as up to that point i'd been told it would take at least 2weeks me a phone as there were none available anywhere when I'd initially tried to sort it out in the shop & on the phone.

Thanks wonkylegs. Actually haven't tried that! I did tweet them - and they ignored it :( Off to add to their message board.

Just really fed-up and the insistence of the sim number tipped me over the edge...

The call centre abroad for Vodafone is in Egypt. They may have called you, but equally it could have been a British call centre staff mamber who isn't English first language. They do have some bonkers ideas on occasion. You are doing well to get the good will gestures!
Send them a written complaint. Set out exactly what you're dal should be and what is wrong with it, followed with what you want them to do to correct it. ASk them to deal with it in writing as they have trouble over the phone, ironic for a telecommunications company....

Email the CEO office again.

Tell them exactly what is in your post.

They are actually really helpful...
