i was out with my DP last night visiting some friends and one of them mentioned about mumsnet having a bad rep with males (its the first ive heard about it if thats true)

is there a dadsnet forum? if so what kind of topics do you think there would be on there if it was a similar lay out to here?

i cant help but think there would be something like AIBU to want to go home and play xbox for a few hours while the mrs cooks my tea

Blimey, it doesn't look like the fastest paced forum!

ConfusedPixie · 02/03/2013 15:25

YABU, no other site apart from MN exists Shock

I think that there is a Dadsnet but they aren't as interesting ;) There is a Dad's part of this site too...

There are plenty of blokes here though, I think once people get on here and realise that there is a hell of a lot of stuff going on that isn't Mummy-talk then they tend to stay if it suits them. Or they start in parts of the forum that suit (childminder's/nannies/au pairs for me!) and drift to other parts.

Plenty of dads post here.

Lueji · 02/03/2013 15:28

Most dadsnet forums are actually dedicated to football and stuff.

i was aware that there are some men who post on here its just when i heard that supposedly this site has a bad rep that i wondered if there was a reverse of this what kind of threads do think we would see

This site has a bad rep???

StanleyLambchop · 02/03/2013 16:13

Typical dadsnet thread:

'AIBU?'
'Dunno mate, what is it about'
'Wimmin'
'Ah, wimmin, YANBU'
'Cheers mate, didn't think I was. I'm off down the pub now'

It would probably catch on!!

There are lots of blokes here. Some of them found their way here after being incited to invade from blokey forums. Then they came over, they liked it and they stayed (But they don't admit it to their blokey forums that they are here Grin )

There are enough to make me be very careful not to assume the gender of a poster unless she's quite clearly female, eg talking about her bra fitting!

TiggyD · 02/03/2013 17:18

This is a site for parents by parents. The 'Mums' bit of the name don't mean it ain't not for no men.

(I think I spotted one of them earlier in Chat! Shock)

Trills · 02/03/2013 17:34

This is as far as I can tell a site by people for people (in spite of the name and the tagline) - the gender or parenthood-status of the people is only vaguely relevant.

IneedAsockamnesty · 02/03/2013 17:38

Deepred.

Be very cautious about gender assumptions when it comes to bra fitting convos. My friend Peter is very keen on bra wearing
