Am I seeing ghosts?

My Grandmother died 12 years ago (this July). We shared the same name so were very close. When she died I didn't go to the hospital as I was at school but she was surrounded by my mum and her sisters.

For the past 2 years I have been having a strong sense of intuition. Seeing things out of the corner of my eye.

Last night I went up to bed and my husband came up about 15 mins later. I was sort of drifting in a sleep but was aware of my surroundings. I did hear and see my husband walk into the room to sort himself out. Our passage light upstairs doesn't work. My husband then went into the bathroom and I heard him close the door. About 2 mins later I thought I heard him open the door and walk into the room. I did hear footsteps in my room as well. 'It' walked round my side of the bed and I turned round and said "what are you doing walking round my side of the bed". What I saw was like a person walking wearing white which the moment I spoke just sort of disapppeared. I went back to sleep but I felt scared but at peace. (Hard to explain).

Moments later my husband came out of the bathroom, checked the kids and got into bed. I told him what had happened and he told me not to be silly and that I was just tired.

Has something like this happened to anyone before? I do feel quite scared to be honest. Sometimes I am in the kitchen and I think that my someone is standing by the doorway to the through-lounge but when I look up no-one is there?

"You'd be better posting this in philosophy/ religion/ spirituality. There's a lot of ghost chat over there & less cynics."
That's exactly why she should be posting here!

People who don't believe will say no, people who do will say yes, I will say I don't know :) It depends what you believe.

I was having a convo about ghosts with six-year-old DS last week. We're a mega-rational family, so he tends to ask things like "Ghosts don't tezist (exist), do they?"
I explained that if they did, we'd have found them by now (he knows about the James Randi $1,000,000), and there's no real "point" to them existing anyway.

He went on to say that it'd be good if they did exist, as everyone could have a companion ghost to keep them company, and I realised that this is poss why a lot of people like to believe in them....as a comfort thing.

If it makes someone happy to think that their departed ancestors/friends/loved ones are hanging around....so be it. Take a bit of happiness where you can get it. It's just not mah bag.....

No you are not seeing ghosts.

It has been over 300 years since Newton started sticking pins in his eyes to understand the difference between the way he saw the world and the way the world actually was.

It boggle the mind that people still think that seeing something means that thing exists. It is even more perplexing given we dream and watch movies etc....are people confused about the existence of James Bond too or giant talking oranges too ?

What about "the Holy Ghost"? The Catholic church takes exorcism very seriously.

Please, let's not hijack this thread with a religious rant, heh? If you want to do that, start another thread.

There's your answer, right there.

I frequently see things that aren't there either when I'm falling asleep or if I'm woken unexpectedly in the night.

Amazing how many ghost stories begin "I was lying in bed one night...." Wink

What religious rant? Did I miss something?

Scientists still haven't worked out how many dimensions there are. Until they find a way of measuring something, they can't prove whether or not it exists.
