To wonder why these people who have been convicted in the past for pick pocketing are allowed to remain in the UK? This must be coating our policing service a fortune watching these people and yet they are set free again and again to re offend. And to top it one admitted he has arrived here from Barcelona to get his back fixed on the NHS Confused

I have to say I can't understand who thought up the plan that anyone from any European country, regardless of their criminal record, should be allowed to live wherever they want within Europe.

Lonelybunny · 26/02/2013 21:22

It is a very stupid plan ......

This programme seems to be showing us all how to do it as well. Confused

Lonelybunny · 26/02/2013 21:24

And then they are sent to prison which again is costing tax payers money

I used to work with the tall, greying plain clothes policeman. He's a hoot Grin

jinsymaw · 26/02/2013 21:34

Sick of Britain being seen as an easy touch for immigrants to come and rip us off! Whether it being benefits, begging or stealing. When is the govt. going to look after its people?

Sparklingbrook · 26/02/2013 21:35

I think I will stick with the cutting the bag straps with a knife method bunny. Wink

marmite69 · 26/02/2013 21:42

They should hire that Big Issue guy,he knew what to look out for.

seen something like this before about shoplifters, felt like they where showing me how!!

BambieO · 26/02/2013 21:49

nameless that's a bit of a generalisation! It did make me laugh I admit but that's because I have had a tough day, plenty of wine and am feeling silly Blush

It's a bit off to categorise people like that. I'm assuming a Romanian or Bulgarian will be along shortly to flame you, hopefully you have your extinguisher!

Lonelybunny · 26/02/2013 21:53

It is a worry though isn't it , considering they also use children to pick pocket as well. This country is going to the cleaners :(

I don't think Australia wants them any more BruisedFanjo Grin
Is the government really just going to sit back and allow Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants to just flood the country? I can't see how the UK can absorb the number they say will be turning up.

Yes Hesterton. They are people. Everyone is 'people'. We have limited resources and an already overpopulated island. What quantities of 'people' should we be happy to absorb. Really - I'm not coming at this from any kind of xenophobic position - I'm interested. Where does it end? Where should it end? Just suppose you were in charge - at what point would you say "Enough people"?

Lonelybunny · 27/02/2013 07:31

Do they not check these people's crime records before they swan in ? Or are their country glad to be rid ?

People move freely in Europe as they do in the UK and pickpockets are not a UK exclusive.

It allows easy travel for British tourists as well as for a large number of uk nationals to live abroad, including pensioners making good use of their pensions.
And British criminals too. :)

ThingsThatMakeYouGoHmmmmmmmmm · 27/02/2013 23:45

I wonder how many of these British people living abroad are signed on in their country of choice? Wink

chickensarmpit · 28/02/2013 00:22

I have a lovely friend from Romania. He told me to nail all my stuff down in preparation of the new lax rules for Romanians/Bulgarians.

I was a bit Hmm when he said it but since watching that program...
