Selling a car privately and scammers!!

I am honestly starting to think that it is just not worth trying to sell your car privately.

Put my car on eBay and auto trader last Sunday I've had five scammers contact offering payment but asking me to pay shipping fees to ship the car to Ireland and the Channel islands etc prior to their funds clearing, as they don't have ability to pay shipping company directly. It's such obvious bollocks WHY do they waste their and my time surely nobody believes such garbage.

Does no one sell/buy cars privately any more does everyone part exchange for less than their cars are worth.

Such a waste of time twats!!!

Sorry you had to experience this, my brother has had the same experience & still hasn't sold his car yet. It might be worth reporting the scammers to e-bay /autotrader so that they can keep a record of it.

People fall for it all the time, esp IT un-savvy ones. Its worth it for the scammers, even if only 1 in 50 people fall for it they've still made a profit.

Perhaps I need a change in career. I could use the cash. How do I become a scammer? Wink

The last car I advertised I wanted shot ASAP so priced it nearly a grand less than it was worth given the condition some bloke turned up still wanting me to lower the price then tried to pay me in forged notes.

I would part ex it but it's a Japanese import and they'd give me half what I'd want/need for it
