To think it can't be hard to paint a kitchen

DH normally does all the decorating, but ATM he is working 7 days a week to clear the backlog in work before a major client to his works pulls out.

The kitchen needs to be painted and I was thinking about doing it myself.

It can't be that difficult to paint or am I being over ambitious.

Not difficult. I've painted mine twice. Also learned to wallpaper! Grin

Don't forget to sugar soap everything first to get rid of that slicky stuff cooking on gas leaves behind.

I plastered ours before painting it! Ok, so its not the neatest job in the world but I was over all quite pleased with it!

YY to sugar soap though, in fact once you have sugar soaped you might find that it can wait a bit longer before painting!

Back in my sozzled youth, I bought a lovely tin of yellow paint for my scabby, beige kitchen. Came home late, flatmate said let's test this paint out. I nipped to the loo.

Came back, he had painted most of the kitchen and refused to stop. Woke up next day to fresh new kitchen.

A fave memory of mine :)

Morris, that's such a lovely memory! Smile I often hope the washing up fairy has visited me overnight - it's never happened though Hmm

Looking as though it not that hard.

Will I get sugar soap from the DIY store

Go for it! I've just done my son's bedroom. I did the kitchen as soon as I moved in.

--Now the rest of the house looks sh*t by comparison-.

sugar soap and masking tape and gloves when using sugar soap! Take your time when applying masking tape it is worth the minutes but DON'T leave it on for ages after the paint has dried. Also means you don't have to be perfect with the lines around tiles / lights and so on.

Good luck!
