To not know how to do emoctions?

I've been on Mumsnet a good few months and still can't figure out how to do them. Am I just being thick?

Are you using a smart device? Such as an iPhone? Because you need to click through to the secondary, or maybe tertiary, keyboard to find the brackets.

You can also use : o for , : ) for etc as listed below the box you type in, with no spaces.

If it's the same as iPhone, touch the 123 button and then the #+= button and they are on the top left.
