Heading towards the busiest season for DP, though it's still reasonable at the moment, due to get manic soon.

He had a meeting last night (no big deal) which has been planned for a while. We had had a conversation way back about dessert dinners. Then I saw a local cake shop doing just that - three mini desserts and a glass of wine, tomorrow night. Booked us two tickets. This was weeks ago, and he was really excited about it (I though).

He's now saying he's too ill. He has a freaking cold. I wouldn't be so pissed off but I have an operation in two weeks time for an undiagnosed pain issue. So firstly, I feel like he's taking the piss to say he's too ill when all he has is a runny nose, and secondly, it took me ages to recover from the GA last time, so this will probably be the last night out I could have had for a while.

No one else to go with, and besides, I booked it to go with him.

Of course I've been sympathetic, asked him if he needs anything, etc. But AIBU to feel a bit ragey?

YANBU - I would dose him up between now and then and drag him out to dinner. He doesn't have to eat any of it, just sit there while you snaffle everything do.

Hot whiskies are great for killing off minor colds pneumonia. Grin

Hope you make it out and wish they had such civilised dinners in my neck of the woods. Sad

They're mini desserts, so we're only talking an hour or so, not like I'm dragging him out till 1am...

I'll be honest with you now. If it was me and DH going, I would expect to eat 5 of those desserts myself and leave him with one. For his own good, you understand. You should go and either eat the bloody lot yourself or get them to box 'em up for you to take home. But don't let your DP have any as he is far too ill.

I would definitely go alone if he won't go! Don't miss out just cos he's a boring sod. Take some magazines or a book or whatever and enjoy yourself.
Or do you have a friend you could invite?

YANBU. Feed a cold and all that. But then I would go on my own, cancelling the babysitter since dh would be home for 4 dc. That would probably make mine think again.

yanbu. and not being a bitch! i got cross when my dh missed my brothers wedding because of the sniffles!!! grr. that was 5 years ago but still irritates me.
if emotional blackmail does work nothing you can do! he might be a pain if he goes and grumps the whole night

Yabvvu. You obviously have no idea how serious a cold is for a grown man.
I can send you a cure but most "man flu" remedies i know of have a high risk of fatality!

Well saw the Plague ridden creature just now, sure he thinks a tribe of mini violinists are following him around. He did the big puppy dog, "I'm sooooo ill", and has suggested a night in instead.

Really wanted to tell him to get fucked, then send him a picture of all the puddings and a single fork tonight, but that would be very childish Blush I even told him a little bit of a lie - that it was fully paid for - to try and make him feel bad enough to go, but he just said, "Oh I'm sorry. Let's watch a film on the sofa instead."

Arse.

Oh - BBB are you coming on the 23rd?
