To be annoyed at a certain chain computer shop?

I ordered something at a well know computer shop last week. I was told it would arrive by Thursday (yesterday). I rang this morning to see if it was in and got put on hold for about 20 minutes. I ended up hanging up as it was costing me a fortune on my mobile. I decided to go to the store to see if it was in instead this lunchtime. I stood in the store for 25 minutes while they checked where on earth my item was.

They are now saying it will be in on Tuesday (at the earliest). They have £270 worth of my money and I have nothing to show for it. When I ordered it I told them I needed it quickly and they reassured me it would be in by Thursday. If they had been honest I would have been able to buy the same thing online through a different company and I'd have it by now.

I also worry about them having my money when so many companies are going bust at the moment. I asked if I could cancel it and get my money back and they said no. AIBU? It's probably not a huge big deal It's only another week right but grrrrr! They also seemed to have no clue when it would now be in. Probably Tuesday but maybe not.

Why the coyness about the shop's name?!

Ilovesunflowers · 08/02/2013 16:13

Just never know if you are allowed to name and shame! It's the main computer shop in UK.

Lets not mess about, go into pc world and demand your money back on the basis you have been fucked about so much.

Ilovesunflowers · 08/02/2013 16:23

They said no to money back lovelygoldboots. If it's not in on Tuesday I'm going to play hell with them though.

It's PC World isn't it, the same people that run Curries who are equally crap.
There's been millions of threads on MN about their crapness.

scissy · 08/02/2013 16:33

if you ordered online surely you're allowed to cancel before it arrives under distance selling regulations?

Ilovesunflowers · 08/02/2013 16:34

I didn't buy it online scissy. I bought it in store.

You need to say that to manager. Find out there name, ring them and tell them that you will be expecting a full refund if delivery is not there on Tuesday. Then get managers email address, email them and cc to their head office what you expect. And do not leave the store without a refund if you do not get goods. g

Ilovesunflowers · 08/02/2013 16:42

good plan Lovelygoldboots. I will ring them now.

We returned a monitor to them 5 weeks ago as it had developed a fault - I'm calling them every week to find out what's happening, and each time I'm told someone will call me back.
I'm never going to buy anything from them again, their customer service is terrible, and I dread to think how much I've spent while in their queuing system waiting to speak to someone who isn't interested in why I'm calling!
