To ask this dog owner to control his dog?

Or at the very least keep it on a lead....

Apparently all dominant entire dogs cock their legs against people Shock This is news to me since my very dominant entire dog has never done this. In fact non of the male dogs I've owned have ever attempted this.

The guy just stood there and watched as his massive dog trotted over to me and proceeded to cock its leg. I caught on and tapped him in the side with my foot while saying no (may have also whacked the idiot in the head with a ball thrower when he didn't back the fuck off and went in for another go Angry ). So yay me, I avoided getting peed on. I may have commented on the dogs rudeness to which his owner laughed, said it was just a phase and that he'd already marked 3 other people today Shock

It is not a phase you f'ing moron it is a direct result of your inabilities Angry keep the dirty sod on a lead or recall him when he tries to approach anyone, that if the bare f'ing minimum you should be doing. Honestly who the fuck thinks that is ok behaviour?

That is disgusting.

I would have wacked it too... and then maybe wacked its owner too

Paiviaso · 08/02/2013 14:02

He lets his dog cock his leg on people? Shock

ExpatAl · 08/02/2013 14:03

News to me too. My dog's never done that and I'd be mortified if it happened.
I would have been hugely pissed off with the guy. Idiot. YANBU.

Ewwww GROSS!

What a twat of an owner. Let's go round and mark his porch!

manicbmc · 08/02/2013 14:05

Does he realise he's contravening the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991?

manicbmc · 08/02/2013 14:06

Actually, scrap that, he's not unless someone feels threatened by his dog.

Leg cocking has fuck all to do with dominance. It's a form of canine communication, their way of writing "dawg woz 'ere" all over the park and also a way of advertising their sex, health and in females fertility status to other dogs.

Other than that YANBU.

No just untrained ones,

I would report him, 101, let the police have a chat,

It is a dog owners responsibility to keep their pet out of trouble, He needs to be reminded of this.

We had a slightly similar situation with some friends and their entire Chesapeake Bay retriever - who lusted after every single bitch he met (apart from ddog2, who told him once, very firmly, to bugger off, and never needed to do it again). His absolute favourite was ddog1 - who had no idea what he was after and used to plonk her bum on the floor and look bemused!

The big difference is that this dog's owners were mortified by their dog's actions, and couldn't wait to get him neutered (you have to wait longer with chesapeake bays, so their coat matures, apparently).

He was done over Christmas, and once recovered, they took him out, and to their delight, he played nicely with all the dogs, and didn't try to bonk anyone - until ddog1 showed up, whereupon he advanced his suit most pressingly - at which they put his lead on and told him off - which is what the dog owner in the OP should have done.

Oh - and the next time he met ddog1, there was no bonking whatsoever - much to their relief, and hers!

All of which could have been summed up as - dogs do sometimes behave badly, but the owners should stop them and deal with the situation.

Oh I know that lol that was one of his reasons why his dogs behaviour was ok Shock

YANBU whata fucking dickhead, he'll be lucky if he doesn't end up getting his head kicked in by someone severely unimpressed at being covered in dog piss.

It takes 6 months after neutering for testosterone to leave the system completely. Or something like that.
