To find the word 'holibobs' really annoying.

A woman at work keeps talking about her 'holibobs'. The word makes me cringe a bit (well a lot really) Grin. Am I just in the minority of people who don't refer to their holidays as 'holibobs'??

This thread is a Zombiebobs

CuntTrollingRs · 21/06/2016 13:15

You're on it Worra

You are the Walking Dead after three years on the Other Side

lceyork · 21/06/2016 13:16

I'm not sure what I've just walked into here? Who's Kelly? And what all this conspiracy theory stuff? Is this how new members are normally welcomed when they comment on threads? 😬

WorraLiberty · 21/06/2016 13:21

No, new members are normally given a swirly in the toilets and made to buy a round of Cake and Wine

You got off very lightly Iceyork

lceyork · 21/06/2016 13:25

Oh kaay. 😬

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/06/2016 13:36

Fgs. I really wish mnhq would lock down zombie threads, so annoying.

Eeeek686 · 21/06/2016 13:47

Why is it soooo annoying to comment on or revive zombie threads like this?? I can understand if it's a thread on something timed or topical e.g my 4 year old can't sleep or omg Saddam has been captured Grin but surely this kind of thread is timeless and always worthy of debate? Even more so if it's tedious semantics language based, as it might even indicate a fascinating change in opinions? Smile

Can't bloody stand Holibobs OR holidays anyway.... cutesy and twee. Bleargh.

2rebecca · 21/06/2016 13:57

ZOMBIE

lceyork · 21/06/2016 14:02

So am I right in thinking that if one posts on an older thread, it brings it back to top of the list or something? If people aren't happy with that why do they keep commenting? Surely it will just keep it at the top?

scarednoob · 21/06/2016 14:35

my friend says "jolly hols". and "drinkypoos".

why are we still friends?

fuck knows :)

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 21/06/2016 16:17

Thanks for coming back ice and sorry for teasing.
I didn't realise you were new.
I was intrigued because there's always a message on old threads saying Zombie alert or some such and do you want to revive it?
There's no logical reason you can't, it just isn't the norm. On some forums you are expected to advance search rather than start a new thread on the same subject. Here there are always new threads on the same old subjects.
It just struck me as being rather specific, that's all, but then I hadn't seen the little man thread on the same lines until afterwards.
Oh, and welcome ;-) I see conspiracies in everything (nah, just wanted to reference scooby doo cos I'm sad like that). But now ice will have some frozen language nazi zombie in my head all day ;-)

lceyork · 21/06/2016 16:27

Thank you KimmySchmidtsSmile. You're quite right I didn't notice the date, and I didn't get any kind of zombie alert that I was aware of!! Also as Eeeek686 said, this is not a topical thread. It's just a random opinion thread. Bearing in mind I live in the sticks, the word 'holibobs' (eeugh!) has probably taken a bit longer to reach me! 😂😂

VioletVaccine · 21/06/2016 16:46

Watchu mean, Op??

Me, Hubbz and Lil' Man are all off on Holibobs soon. We're totes excited!

Sorry. Off to bleach my brain and texting thumbs, bleurrgh Envy

Beebacoff · 21/06/2016 16:53

Hate "holibobs"

Also - hubs, hubby, littlies, little man for baby boy child.

Also hate Americanisms like "braids" for plaits.

Eeeek686 · 21/06/2016 21:25

Hopefully it was fairly clear but I meant to say earlier that I hated Holibobs OR Holibags... not holidays; that would be just stupid... Blush many apologies for any confusion - I basically committed the heinous crime of post and run! Grin

Anyway, as I'm feeling mildly irritating am also posting in a vague attempt to keep this zombie thread afloat, soooo - also cannot stand hubby or little man, just too darn cutsie!! Also, don't know if it's been noted but "little man" is only Ever used by women relatives so surely it's almost even a bit proprietal which is Never cool when referring to ones male offspring?? Confused

doesntmatterwhoyouare · 21/06/2016 21:33

Is little lady ok?

Never said little man bit little lady rolls.off the tongue so easily.

(I was wondering what was right if holiday is.twee)
