DD's aged 5 years and 8 months have baths together. Tonight DP put baby in bath straight after taking nappy off despite her having done a poo. Elder DD told him that's disgusting and that they were 'not going to get clean in poo water!' I agree with DD. Am I being unreasonable?

Well, I'd say a quick once-over with a wet wipe would be a good idea.

mamaduckbone · 03/02/2013 21:17

YANBU. That's grim!

PurpleStorm · 03/02/2013 21:17

YANBU.

Totally agree with you. Clean bottoms before baths always.

Also, don't know what your DD's are like in the bath, but DS (17 months) likes trying to drink the bathwater, and it'd be extremely unhygenic to drink bathwater that had poo in it. (Not that I'm keen on him drinking the bathwater anyway)

Fakebook · 03/02/2013 21:25

Did he not wipe the baby's bottom with a wipe? So he just wiped the poo away with the nappy and popped her in? That is revolting. Poo germs galore.

5madthings · 03/02/2013 21:27

Eww did he not wipe the poo off?! That is gross!

EuroShagmore · 03/02/2013 21:27

Ew!

Greensleeves · 03/02/2013 21:27

well I was going to say that you were being a bit fastidious, but if the baby has actually shat Shock that is grim

PacificDogwood · 03/02/2013 21:28

Urgh - I am totally with your DD!

SoWhatIfImWorkingClass · 03/02/2013 21:29

I always give DS's bum a wipe before putting him I the bath if he's had a poo beforehand. I don't want him to have to sit in floaty bits of poo whilst he plays and has a wash. Ew.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 03/02/2013 21:30

That's gross. Of course u should clean the bottom first.

3monkeys3 · 03/02/2013 21:32

My dh has been known to do this! Grim.

lottiegarbanzo · 03/02/2013 21:32

Your dd is right. Also, dd 10mo likes to suck bath water through the flannel and, even without that habit, they can easily drink a bit. Yuck.

PacificDogwood · 03/02/2013 21:35

Oh gawd, yes the drinking of bath water goes on here too - bad enough when they (deliberately) pee in the bath water, my darling sons. Yeuch!

Meglet · 03/02/2013 21:36

yanbu.

Fresh botty before bath!

Shaky · 03/02/2013 21:38

Yes, definitely get the poo off first, tiny floaters in a kids bath, bleugh.
Ds loves to make everyone a cup of tea with his bath water and drinks it

PhilMcAverty · 03/02/2013 21:38

YANBU - Ewww. Just Eww.

Ask him if he wants to wash his face after dipping his flannel into the toilet.

shallweshop · 03/02/2013 21:40

Agree its a bit gross!

Iheartpasties · 03/02/2013 21:40

yuck - all bath toys will need to be scrubbed and sterilised! yuck yuck yuck. Ask him if he would like to have jumped in the poo bath and get 'clean'

OxfordBags · 03/02/2013 21:41

What a skank he is! A bath full of poo water is far dirtier than not having a wash, ffs! He ought to be ashamed of himself for having less sense and standards of hygiene than a 5 yr old!

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 03/02/2013 21:42

That's revolting. Is he this grim about other stuff?

If a 5-year-old reckons it's skanky, it's probably skanky. YANBU.

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 03/02/2013 21:43

TSC - I was just about to post that Grin

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot · 03/02/2013 21:43

almostanotherday · 03/02/2013 21:46
