Hi, I think it's very very early on, the lines were pretty feint on the test (one done at nurses office at my uni).

But now I am bleeding. If we hadn't have been ttc I could never have tested this early so would never have know, do I need to see anyone?

If you've had a positive, no matter how faint, it's a positive. How much are you bleeding? It could possibly be implantation bleeding, but I would go to the drs ASAP and get it checked out.

Scarfo · 30/01/2013 09:38

It's like a period. It started last night and is no like my usual second day bleeding.

I would go and get yourself checked out. I had bleeding for 3 weeks in my last pregnancy and now have a 7 month little boy, hope all is well x

brummiegirl1 · 30/01/2013 09:40

Also to add if you go and get yourself checked out they should book you in for an early scan to check all is ok

LeaveTheBastid · 30/01/2013 09:40

How early on do you think it is? I had bleeding and cramps that made me drop to the floor (first clue I was pg) at about 5 weeks, I bled right through to about 9 weeks on and off. She is now 3.7yo Smile. Had a mc before her but had no idea about it until we got to the 12 week scan.

Try not to worry, give your local early pregnancy unit a call and they may check you over, but probably won't give you a scan until at least 7 weeks, I had to wait 2 weeks for my scan when I was bleeding.

Hope all is ok x

Do you have an epu at your local hospital? Call them. You usually need a referral but that can be from a&e. Don't panic yet,do get checked out though.

Scarfo · 30/01/2013 09:56

Ok, thankyou.

My thoughts were that if I hadn't done a test on sunday then I would have just assumed my period was 6 days late.

Definitely go to your GP and he can refer you to the early pg unit at your local hospital. I had a transvaginal scan at 6 weeks with DD (now 2) so you might have to wait a week or so.

Do you normally have a regular cycle? Would 6 days late be normal for you?

Good luck!

mycatlikestwiglets · 30/01/2013 10:07

I wouldn't bother with the doctor actually, or not yet anyway. You may well have had a chemical pregnancy - you were pregnant as per your BFP, but for whatever reason you are having a very early m/c. It's very common and nothing to worry about provided you don't have excessive pain or other symptoms which could indicate an ectopic. I've just had one too and it sucks because you get your hopes up - strong BFP in my case followed by bleeding 2 days later which was the heaviest period I've had in about 15 years.

If I were you I'd wait for the bleeding to stop then do another test - then if it's still a BFP get yourself checked out by your GP. Your GP can't do anything if it's a chemical pg anyway Sad

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 30/01/2013 10:09

Have you done another test? Really sorry to be the voice of doom and gloom but it is possible this could be a chemical pregnancy.

I had three last year. I get a faint positive test, then I test again the test is negative and I start bleeding soon after the negative test.

but I bled early on when pregnant with my now two year old dd, so it could be nothing - if it was me I would do another test and go to my GP

MagdalenVanstone · 30/01/2013 10:12

Like Mycat I have had a chemical PG recently- bleeding started 5 days after AF was due when I'd got two strong positive tests.

I'd buy a bog standard pregnancy test- one that tests at 20, not an ultra senstive one that tests at 10, and see what that says.

If you get a negative, I'm afraid you've got your answer.

If you continue to get positives then a trip to the EPU is in order, but when I was worried I was told to do the tests myself at home first, and only come in if I was still getting a positive a week after i started bleeding- before that they didn't want to know.

Fakebook · 30/01/2013 10:12

All my late bleeds have been miscarriages, but that's not to say yours is too. I would go along to the doctor to get it on record. I don't think they'll scan you this early but they can do a blood test to check your hcg levels.

HannahsSister40 · 30/01/2013 10:17

I had 3 weeks of quite heavy bleeding in my last pregnancy. I carried on oblivious, assuming I'd miscarried. But I hadn't. She's now running around my living room! Go and see a doctor. I didn't, just assumed I'd miscarried and didn't retest for weeks, then sent for a scan to find out I was 17 weeks pg!

ScarletLady02 · 30/01/2013 10:25

I had a chemical pregnancy too. It's far more common than you think and is only really known about now because tests are much more sensitive and people tend to test earlier. Often people have them but don't realise as they have what they assume is a period.

That said, my SIL had monthly bleeds throughout her whole pregnancy and her son is now 21!

Go and see a GP just to be sure.

HoratiaWinwood · 30/01/2013 10:27

It is worth being seen to make sure the loss is complete, to avoid infection.

Sorry for your sad news.

Hi so I came on my period this month regular 28 day cycle, did the baby dance and five days later I came on 7th day today I’m still bleeding. Impossible to be pregnant coz I only had five days no bleed. How we something inside me told me to take a test today I took a test and this is what came up, looks positive but I’m very scared as it might be false or ectopic anyone else has this experience and had a healthy baby

You may want to start a new thread @Bellz12 . This one is 6 years old!

Bellz12 · 02/05/2019 19:58

Haha can’t you tell I’m new to this how do I start a new thread?

chuttypicks · 03/05/2019 05:39

Go into the relevant topic (such as Pregnancy) and choose New and write a new thread I think.

Hi ladies, I’ve been having faint positives for the past week, Including this morning, shortly after I had a period like bleed, not like first day period almost like second day, it’s since slowed down. I already have a daughter who’s two and I just feel pregnant, all similar symptoms to my pregnancy with her but a year ago I did have a chemical pregnancy, I think I’m just looking for some reassuring stories from other mums while I wait a few days to test again as my period is due within the next 5-7 days (it often varies) as I’m worried I’m going to drive myself mad
